The Baltimore Ravens or the Los Angeles Chargers are trade suitors for $72 million Pro Bowler, Jonathan Allen. According to a report, one analyst believes the Commanders should move on from the defensive tackle if they’re in rebuild mode. Many reports urge the team to put him on the trade block to build a youthful roster to maximize their return and bring in more talent to reinforce the defensive line. Allen only has two years on his current deal so it may be logical to get something in return while he has value.
The Commanders have been busy this offseason, signing plenty of veterans including Dante Fowler Jr. and Dorance Armstrong. However, if they want to rebuild an effective future under new head coach Dan Quinn then it’s probably smart to start new. It should only be if the price is right considering that Allen has many years in the bag after notching 22 sacks over the last three seasons. Allen loves the direction the Commanders are going but it’s only a matter of time if the team has mutual feelings.
It may be smart to feature him somewhere he could become a star and that fits with the Ravens. Baltimore has one of the best defenses in the league despite losing Patrick Queen and Jadeveon Clowney. They need some type of replacement and Allen would become a power force on the line next to Justin Madubuike. Both players are in the same position but it’s never too late to start thinking about the future of this defense.
The Chargers look youthful at the defensive line but they were still able to bring back Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. However, it doesn’t hurt to bolster the defense while the Chargers are figuring things out on offense.

Other Potential Destinations
New Orleans Saints
The team may need to get creative in salary cap but the thought of Allen and Chase Young reuniting would be best for business in New Orleans. The offense doesn’t look promising with Derek Carr leading the way with just Chris Olave as his reliable target so they might as well build a strong defense. It might not be enough to win the division but it gives the Saints a fighting chance in case the offense is in mishap. Bryan Breese may bring some help as a rookie but they need someone who is already established that can help this team bring in sacks.
Kansas City Chiefs
Allen landing with the Chiefs in a trade package would mean a nightmare for the rest of the AFC. The superpower team is already bringing back Chris Jones on a mega contract so they might as well get more powerful. One can argue that they should continue spending money to improve their passing game but they have one of the best quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes. He can almost make any wideout into a star similar to what Tom Brady used to do in New England.
It would almost be like an endgame and make the Chiefs one of the scariest teams ever one can witness.
Detroit Lions
The Lions are in the position to win a Super Bowl one day so it’s almost like adding one more piece to this roster would make them contenders. They have the right tools on offense along with extending Jared Goff so they have that firepower in the bag. However, it doesn’t hurt to add one more formidable piece to build alongside Aidan Hutchinson. This new duo would make this team able to compete in a future Super Bowl against the Chiefs.
