Star Receiver Will Skip Training Camp, May Seek a Trade

Here is how star receiver CeeDee Lamb will skip training camp next month as he may seek a trade if he doesn't get a new contract.

Star receiver CeeDee Lamb will skip training camp but may seek a trade this summer as he continues to hold out. According to a report, many sources suggest that the Dallas Cowboys wideout will hold out beyond this year’s training camp if it means waiting for a new contract. However, it doesn’t look like it will get easier for the team as they are on the clock of potentially missing out on their best receiver this season if he doesn’t receive an extension. The 25-year-old set new records last season after leading the league in receptions so the Cowboys will have to act fast.

Numerous receivers got a new contract like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Justin Jefferson and Jaylen Waddle but it doesn’t look like Lamb will eclipse that. The Cowboys have been taking the cheap route to extend their starting players so things won’t play well in Dallas if that continues to happen. Lamb won’t be playing for a discount so he’ll most likely wait as long as possible to force the Cowboys to pay him. All-Pro Zack Martin did the same thing until he got the contract he’s been wanting.

Things don’t look bright for the Cowboys’ receiving corps as Brandin Cooks will probably serve as the starter and right behind him is unproven Jalen Tolbert. They have a collection of receivers who don’t have experience so it’s hard to imagine what the offense will look like for Dak Prescott. Dallas isn’t in an easy either as they still need to give an extension to Prescott or else he walks in free agency next year. Cowboys officials are not looking to set markets with their offers so that may be a problem for Lamb and Prescott who’s been producing well.

Potential Trade Destinations

Kansas City Chiefs

This would be an AFC nightmare if this trade happens which sounds very dreamy for the Chiefs. However, they’ve been finding their number-one receiver on the field since Tyreek Hill’s departure. They may have Rashee Rice but this is something they’re keeping an eye on since he’s been in some serious legal trouble. He’s going to miss the start of the regular season since the NFL is planning to suspend him.

The latter receivers include Kadarius Toney, Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy which don’t look promising. The Chiefs are bringing back Mecole Hardman for a reason since he provides length to catch the balls on vertical routes.

Los Angeles Chargers

Mike Williams and Keenan Allen not being around is going to cause some hardship for Jim Harbaugh’s debut season. Ladd McConkey is developing into a potential young talent who’s going to be on the roster for a long time. If this is the case, he needs someone like Lamb to complement him to provide some upside to his game. No one should expect guys like DJ Chark, Quentin Johnson and Josh Palmer to step up to make a game-changing landscape for this offense.

Baltimore Ravens

Lamb joining the Ravens would probably automatically make them Super Bowl champions considering the chemistry he and Lamar Jackson could develop. Rashod Bateman has been disappointing and hasn’t been able to keep up pace with guys like Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews. It seems like Odell Beckham Jr’s departure will affect the mojo of this offense either way since they’re lacking experience at the position behind Bateman and Flowers. This is why they are bringing in Nelson Agholor but it’s hard to imagine how many years he has in the tank comparing to Lamb.
