The New York Giants may cut the former $46 million veteran, Allen Robinson and he may sign elsewhere. According to a report, the receiver looks interesting this season for the Giants since the depth is deep for the roster. This means some receivers will likely be cut this offseason before this upcoming fall before they step on the field. Surprisingly, he could be one of the biggest cuts before teams throughout the league lock down their 53-man roster.
Isaiah Hodgins seems to be the fan-favorite who would likely beat Robinson for that spot. However, there is a lack of special-teams play from Robinson and Hodgins so that may be a factor. The Giants are shaping up the future of their receiver roster which includes Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt. This means there isn’t a lot of room for Hodgens or Allen who will likely compete.
The source is suggesting that the Giants should consider having Isaiah McKenzie and Gunner Olszewski compete for the top returners. It’s hard to see what kind of spot Allen will have if he does make the team but it doesn’t seem likely. His contract doesn’t guarantee him a roster spot after signing him to a salary benefit contract so there’s no commitment. Robinson only has recorded 69 catches for 631 receiving yards and three touchdowns over the last 28 appearances with the Rams and Steelers.
The veteran is going to need to earn his spot if he wants to stay on the loaded roster. However, it’s surprising that the Steelers let him go but he feels like he found the right team this offseason. The Giants had a big need to improve their passing game which would mean bringing in some solid receivers including Robinson.

Potential Destinations
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are always working on their pass-catchers to improve the offense by giving Patrick Mahomes the best tools for success. However, they haven’t been doing a good job of doing since Tyreek Hill went to the Dolphins. It still didn’t hurt their back-to-back Super Bowl wins but eventually the depth is bound to crack like how it may now this offseason. Rashee Rice is missing the start of the regular season due to off-field issues which leaves incoming Marquise Brown as the leader of the corps.
A new receiver that’s still learning the system shouldn’t be in charge to lead, it should be someone like Kadarius Toney or Mecole Hardman. However, they could bring in someone cheap like Robinson to keep a steady flow of receivers.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers don’t have anything to lose this season since the departure of Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. They’re bringing about just any receiver to help Justin Herbert. Robinson would be another cost-effective option to develop some chemistry around the offense. He could be a promising wideout who can compete for the starting role next to DJ Chark, Quentin Johnson and Josh Palmer.
Baltimore Ravens
Rashod Bateman is coming back on an extension but it’s a matter of time that he’s slowing down in production. Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews have been there for a long time as reliable pass-catchers so they’re not going anywhere. However, it’s hard to think they rely on them too much to where one injury to the receiver corp could cause disaster. They need just any receiver in the rotation to help what Odell Beckham Jr. was able to do in the mix.
New Orleans Saints
It isn’t the usual receiver for Derek Carr considering he needs to put on a better campaign this season but it’s better than nothing. Dennis Allen should consider bringing in one more cheap veteran wideout to help Chris Olave on the opposite end. Carr needs all the weapons to help lead this team to a potential playoff run in the future.
