The latest roster move of Mecole Hardman’s signing could spell the end of Chiefs wideout Skyy Moore. According to a source, Moore is one of the four receivers on Kansas City’s roster who may be on the trading block this offseason. The Chiefs were able to retain the Super Bowl “hero” who was able to score the game-winning touchdown. However, the deal is a one-year contract and returns to a roster with incoming receivers, Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown.
Hardman is probably returning to fill a depth role for Rashee Rice since he will miss some time with off-field issues. However, this doesn’t stop the rumors floating that the Chiefs could move on from at least one of the wide receivers. The Moore trade rumors were a thing before the Hardman signing so anything can be imminent before the upcoming 2024 season. The 2022 second-round pick’s career hasn’t been progressing but there is still a lot of time for him at age 23.
He still has two years on his rookie contract but that may change if a team has the interest in trading for him now that he’s on that deal. Moore only has 494 career receiving yards but he has been able to step up in big moments. He was able to score a touchdown in the touchdown but that’s hard to give credit considering he was wide open for the pass. According to The Athletic, Moore seems to be safe on the 53-man roster unless the Chiefs see something different at training camp.
The Chiefs would be foolish to not consider a trade if there is a team interested. Moore is in his rookie deal and still has a lot to prove so that may intrigue a team that needs a receiver.
Mecole Hardman Signing Could Spell The End of Skyy Moore
Dallas Cowboys Linked As A Possible Trade Spot
It’s fair to speculate why after the Hardman signing the Chiefs could be moving on from any receiver this upcoming training camp. Brown, Worthy Rice and Justin Watson all feel like locks but there hasn’t been any discussion of Kadarius Toney or Moore. More than half of the wideout roster will have to fight for a spot on the roster but it looks like they have a loaded room. Moore’s future is far from secure but one source believes he’ll still be around.
However, another report is saying that the Cowboys could trade for the former second-round pick and it makes too much sense. Moore would be getting more touches with America’s team considering they’re in dire need of a WR3. The Cowboys are moving on from Michael Gallup while they’re figuring out what to do with CeeDee Lamb’s contract. There haven’t been any talks or negotiations so it’s to imagine that the team will even sign or trade for a wideout.
However, most of the receivers on the Cowboys roster aren’t elite other than Lamb who’s holding out for a new deal. There could be real trouble if Dallas doesn’t act fast to improve their team. Here are some potential trade fits for Moore.
Potential Trade Fits for Moore
Anyone who trades for this young receiver wouldn’t have to take out so much money to make it happen. One team that may want to look into Moore is the Los Angeles Chargers. They may as well start establishing some proven wideouts after losing Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. The Chargers were getting about any receiver this offseason including DJ Chark so Moore could make a strong case for Los Angeles.
The Saints are still looking for a receiver to help Chris Olave in the slot since they don’t have any big-name receivers on the roster. Moore isn’t someone who will be talked about until he starts showing up. However, he could re-establish himself under an offense that’s still growing. Derek Carr needs some new toys and he would be open to bringing in the speedster.
On the other hand, the Ravens have not found a replacement for Odell Beckham Jr. after extending Rashod Bateman. It may be wise for Baltimore to establish a strong receiver corp to help after Bateman’s down season last year. They need all the help they can get for Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews.
