Superstar playmaker Tyreek Hill looking for a new contract but may seek a trade from the Miami Dolphins this offseason. According to a source, the receiver market is continuing to boom as Jaylen Waddle got a new three-year extension with $84.75 million, with $76 million guaranteed. It looks like good news for Dolphins fans but they still need to figure out a way to extend Hill and Tua Tagovailoa who are still waiting on new deals. The cold water is pouring on the celebrations for anyone celebrating Waddle’s extension.
Waddle isn’t the only receiver getting a new contract, two pass-catchers Amon-Ra St. Brown and AJ Brown got new deals that are surpassing Hill’s $30 million-per-year benchmark. It’s no secret why Hill wants a new contract considering the the wideout has been waiting for one since the conclusion of the 2023 season. According to Pro Football Talk, he led the league that year with 1,799 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. However, it’s hard to imagine the Dolphins would give him a new contract considering the retirement rumors last year.
Hill said he’s going to retire after he finishes his current contract which has people scratching their heads as to why he wants a new deal if he isn’t going to be around for long. He remains one of the exciting speedsters in the NFL so you better want to watch him before he leaves. Waddle may be staying on the team longer than Hill does so this could be why the Dolphins were quick to give him an extension. However, Hill does have a case for a new contract after finishing in the top two in receiving yards the last two seasons.
He’s the first player in NFL history to record multiple seasons of 1,700 receiving yards.

Dolphins Faces Tough Decisions
The team is already facing a lot of questions at the quarterback position after Tagovailoa is in line for a huge payday. It’s a matter of when and not “if” when they finally give the contract that may eclipse past Jared Goff’s deal. However, it wouldn’t be the worst idea for the Dolphins to take care of Hill’s contract considering they should do it soon. Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase and Brandon Aiyuk are still waiting to reset the market.
Any team that waits longer would be a bad move for them. Lamb said he doesn’t mind waiting until Jefferson inks a deal which could mean the same business for Hill. He may demand a higher payday than Jefferson so the time’s ticking for the Dolphins to make a move now. However, how much would the team have for Hill’s contract if they extend Tagovailoa first?
The team is facing a lot of tough decisions this offseason to ensure the future success of the roster. The longer they wait to extend Tagovailoa and Hill, the worse it would probably be as they may demand higher salaries. Here are some potential trade destinations for Hill if he decides to move on.
Trade Destinations for Hill
The Ravens are still looking for a new toy to help accommodate Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman in the slot. However, if they add someone like Hill then they could move Bateman to give him fewer snaps. Bateman hasn’t been productive last season so the fewer snaps could improve his play. However, the Chiefs could make the biggest swerve this year to bring back one of the consistent playmakers to the mix before he retires.
Hill was feeling some type of way when he was missing opportunities for a Super Bowl win the past two seasons. He could go back to win another ring before he hangs his cleats. Kansas City still needs some help as Rashee Rice plans to face suspension for his legal troubles. The Saints are still looking for a solid piece to help Chris Olave. Hill’s presence would change the scenery for New Orleans who need a new breath fresh of air.
He would be that answer and the speedster they need to reach playoff contention.
