The Vikings again move up so that they can add some defensive talent to their roster. The Jaguars gave up pick 17 and in return got pick 23, 167, and a 3rd and 4th next year. This looks to be a solid trade for both teams but right now I would say the Jaguars won the trade. This trade will take time to decide a winner as two of the picks won’t come into play until next season.
Vikings Make Their Second Trade Of The Night
The Vikings’ acquisition of Dallas Turner is a steal, with many analysts ranking him as the top edge rusher. Minnesota secures crucial support on the edge, aiming to bolster a defense that has struggled to apply pressure consistently. The Vikings need to sustain their momentum in what has been an impressive draft, having enhanced key positions and possessing additional picks to further impact the team. This has been a masterclass of a draft so far.
The Jaguars were able to use the 23rd pick to grab Brian Thomas Jr. a fantastic pick for the Jaguars as they address a need. Thomas Jr. is the best of the tier two receivers and with the Jaguars lacking a true number one receiver adding one was essential. The Jaguars end this trade as big winners and could end up finding a stud for quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Both teams end this as winners being able to address important needs and grab top of the position talent. The Jaguars are now going to have an extra third-round pick which could end up being incredibly beneficial in the long run. Chances are the Vikings and Jaguars both leave this trade as winners when its all said and done.
