Kris Abrams-Draine 2024 NFL Draft Profile

MIZZOU is a back again with another underrated prospect who played at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium. Missouri Tigers has become an underrated program for NFL talent, and you can add Kris Abrams Draine to that list. Draine was a three-star recruit out of Spanish Fort, Alabama, committed to Missouri to play Wide Receiver. As a wide receiver, Draine had offers to play at schools such as Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee. Big-time broad receivers schools wanted to show his athletic ability.

After the redshirt in the first year, Draine transferred to defense and immediately hit his stride. He was a three-year full-time starter for 35 games and had big-time production. Kris amassed 135 tackles, 40 pass deflections, and seven interceptions and was awarded first-team all-S.E.C. He was also awarded second-team all-American and was a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. Kris Abrams Draine gets better every year, but Will his trajectory continue in the NFL? Let’s dig into the film.

Kris Abrams-Draine Player Evaluation

ABRAMS-DRAINE’s Strengths

  • Tremendous ball skills. Do not panic when the ball is in the air. He turns his head around to love the football and selects the pass. The former wideout has soft hands to catch interceptions, seven total in 2021 and 2023.
  • He has many traits that the NFL wants in a slot corner. Smooth moving corner with fluid hips that can stick to wide receivers in coverage. Has some of the best feet in the draft with excellent agility.
  • He has scheme versatility and talent to play press man, off man, and zone coverage using his ability and football IQ. He played well and has a boundary that could max his potential.
  • He has a good backpedal plant and drives on the wideout and the ball.
  • Three years of solid play in the SEC.
  • He is physical in run support, even with his more petite frame.

ABRAMS-DRAINE’s Weakness

  • In the seventh percentile in weight and smallish frame, he could have teams wondering if he matches up on the outside. This would put a cap on his draft position.
  • He must get more robust and use better techniques to tackle NFL running backs.
  • Lacks elite top-end speed to guard opposing elite WRS. He may be your CB1
  • They can sometimes get aggressive looking for the ball and can get misdirected by Wide receivers.

Projection: Third Round Pick

Best Fits: Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Giants.
