Here are three possible landing spots for uninvited NFL Draft prospect and former Oregon quarterback, Bo Nix. The Oregon product has been turning many heads this year with his deep throw accuracy during a workout in March. According to ESPN Analyst Mel Kiper Jr., he was once projected as high as No. 12 in the first round but not anymore. Nix’s abilities have been compared to legendary quarterback, Drew Brees with his size and accuracy as a big-arm passer.
He’s currently an intriguing quarterback prospect outside of the top 10 in this year’s draft. However, Nix had his up-and-downs throughout his career before his explosive performance at Oregon. The prospect joined the Ducks via the transfer portal and had tremendous success over the past two seasons. He has been able to improve his Draft stock last year, helping the team to a 5-0 start.
Nix notched 1,459 yards, 15 touchdowns and one interception while completing 80.4% of his passes in those five matchups. He finished that year with throwing over 4,500 yards and 45 touchdowns in his final collegiate season. However, the prospect is still uninvited to the Draft along with Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. this year. Nix isn’t going to be the first quarterback on most teams mind but his arm talent is something that could still be intriguing for many teams.
Quarterbacks like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels will be the ones in the spotlight of attendance. So this shows that Nix could be selected on the second day of the Draft. He could be a rare gem in this year’s Draft with his athleticism as his greatest asset. Here are three possible landing spots for Nix.
Three Possible Landing Spots for “Uninvited” NFL Draft Prospect Bo Nix
Denver Broncos
The Broncos are heading into this year’s draft with more questions than answers at the quarterback position. It doesn’t mean that the corps is weak this year with Jarrett Stidham as your starter and Ben DiNucci as the No. 2 quarterback. However, if the Broncos were to go against a competitive team like the Chiefs then the Broncos aren’t going to go very far. According to a report, one source believes that Denver isn’t heading in this season with the quarterback room as it is.
The question remains if they select a quarterback in the first round before it’s too late on day two. The good news for the Broncos is that Nix will likely be available in the second round of this year’s Draft. Many betting odds are favoring the Oregon product to land with the Broncos as their next franchiser. It would make sense in Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton’s eyes.
The comparison between Nix and Brees could intrigue the coach of what he could bring. Payton is looking for a quarterback that has a “quick processor” which means someone who can diagnose information. Nix could be someone that Payton likes that he wasn’t able to achieve with Russell Wilson.
New Orleans Saints
According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, he has Bo Nix shockingly going early in the first round of the Draft. However, there’s a possibility that he can be a starter early on after his Draft selection with the Saints. Derek Carr may still be the starter going forward but if his production is still slowing then Nix could replace him. Nix is probably the most experienced quarterback in this year’s draft so this could intrigue New Orleans to build him as a second-string first.
Dallas Cowboys
There have been rumors that Penix could be the next successor for Dak Prescott, but Nix could be the next selection if he isn’t there. The Cowboys are heading this year’s draft without a long-term contract extension for Prescott so this means they could select a new quarterback. It probably wouldn’t make sense, unless they trade Trey Lance. If that happens, they could select someone like Nix who still has a powerful arm that has plenty of experience.
