A Two-time Super Bowl cornerback trade could be imminent after L’Jarius Sneed had the opportunity to get in contact with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. These teams are interested in trading for Sneed after an illustrious career with the Chiefs by winning the chip again last season. However, the only thing stopping them from making it happen is the asking price from the Chiefs that could keep Sneed in Kansas City for another year. They placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Sneed, allowing him to seek a trade but there’s been no progress.
Sneed notched 303 career tackles with 40 pass deflections and 10 interceptions. He recorded 78 tackles, 14 pass deflections and two interceptions the entire 2023 season for the Chiefs. According to a source, he is one of the two players to record two interceptions and five tackles for loss in each of the past three seasons. His pay is still an issue for many teams across the board since Sneed is looking for a huge pay raise.
The Titans have more money than the Colts sitting at $54.2 million, according to OverTheCap. However, the Colts still have $22.6 million available so they can afford someone like Sneed. The Sneed contract saga between Sneed and the Chiefs is dragging out longer than anyone is anticipating. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the two sides have discussed the possibility of a tag-and-trade scenario which is still up in the air.
There are now conflicting reports happening that are spiraling around the league. So now it may be time that Sneed will stay in Kansas City until he’s a free agent next offseason. However, he’s still desired to become the highest-paid cornerback in the league and now it’s a major holdout.

Two-Time Super Bowl Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed Trade Could Be Imminent
Sneed Is Receiving Low-Ball Offers
According to Adam Schefter, the Titans trade talks reportedly fell apart and the Colts are running out of the market. The Free Agency market is drying up quickly and there’s probably no hope in trading Sneed anytime soon. A source said that the Chiefs may be getting low-balled offers and that’s an indication that Sneed will look towards next offseason. It’s interesting as things unfold since no team has reached even giving the Chiefs a bare minimum of a second-round pick.
Although this seems like the significance of the story, his past injury could be why teams are thinking twice. The Chiefs were hoping to get at least a first-round pick, but they seemed comfortable accepting less compensation. The team has all the leverage and is fine with letting Sneed play on a franchise tag. However, there could be some teams interested in giving him a huge contract.
The Chiefs will look to go on a chronicle for a three-peat with their star corner in the mix.
Other Teams Could Spark Interest
These talks are probably not going anywhere, there may be new teams that become interested. The Titans signing Calvin Ridley to a huge four-year $92 million contract could be a reason why they haven’t made a move yet. On the other end, the Colts could be looking cheaper even though they have the cap space. However, no discussions have been progressing between the Colts and Sneed.
It’s something to watch for in the upcoming days. The Panthers are one team to watch after revamping their entire offseason with extra additions. They haven’t made any superstar moves on their defense after Brian Burns left for the Giants.
