Here are three possible landing spots for 1,100-yard wide receiver and former Dallas Cowboy, Michael Gallup as he’s scheduled for a team visit this week with the Carolina Panthers. It seems like the Panthers are trying to add another wideout to complement newly-acquired Diontae Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’re continuing to strive to add more weapons for their second-year quarterback, Bryce Young after a disappointing 2-15 season campaign last year. Gallup isn’t the only wideout they’re hosting, they’re also set to meet with former Charger Mike Williams.

The Dallas Cowboys cut ties with the struggling wide receiver after failing to amass 500 receiving yards last season in his third straight year. However, he showed potential in his playmaking abilities before suffering a season-ending injury in 2022. In his rookie year, he caught 33 balls for 507 yards and two touchdowns. Although, in his sophomore campaign he notched with double the receptions for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns.

He continued to be consistent that following year in 2020 with 843 yards and five touchdowns before a career slump. He and Williams both could fit decently in Carolina along with Adam Thielen in the mix. However, it’s possible that the Panthers may acquire Gallup instead since he may be a cheaper option coming off fresh from his injury. Gallup never got back to his old self so that’s why the Dallas Cowboys let him go after an unsuccessful 2023 season campaign.

Gallup isn’t expected to command a big market in any way and probably just wants to prove his worth before receiving a huge contract again. He received that payday in 2022 with an extension from the Cowboys. Here are three possible landing spots for Michael Gallup as he has options open.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers don’t have reliable weapons for their franchise quarterback, Justin Herbert as they enter the era under Jim Harbaugh. There will be a competition in Los Angeles for WR1 when the team reports to training camp. Earlier this week, Keenan Allen was traded to the Chicago Bears for a four-round pick to help free cap space for the Chargers. The cash-strapped team also let go of Mike Williams to continue to clear their financial disaster and that wasn’t the last of it.

They also let newly Washington Commander, Austin Ekeler walk in free agency after no discussions of a new contract. The Chargers were close to trading their two starting pass-rushers, Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa before agreeing on a restructured contract for both. Suddenly, the Chargers are left with injury-prone Josh Palmer and rookie disappointment Quentin Johnson. Adding Gallup would provide the corps with a fresh veteran who still has a lot left in the tank when healthy.

They could use the No. 5 pick in the NFL Draft for a receiver, but they still need veteran help so Gallup can help with that.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars aren’t shy from making aggressive moves in the offseason after the additions of Arik Armstead and Gabe Davis. Davis will likely compete for WR1 of whoever else they sign or draft for their receiving corps. They attempted to retain Calvin Ridley until he shockingly signed with AFC South rival, the Titans. Gallup could be much cheaper than Ridley and provides immediate veteran insurance for an anticipated struggling receiving room.

Gallup could work his way up to provide expertise that Ridley would have if he were still around.

New England Patriots

The Patriots are still in dire need of receiver help re-signing Kendrick Bourne to an extension. They already lost DeVante Parker to the Philadelphia Eagles so adding Gallup could be a temporary replacement. They’re focusing on drafting a quarterback while they made the move to trade Mac Jones to Jacksonville. However, they have their eyes set on the receiving room to help prepare weapons for the next franchiser.
