Here are three potential free agents still available for the Dallas Cowboys after an unproductive two days of NFL Free Agency. Fans may have the right to be frustrated with the team, but it seems they’re heading in the direction of going young again in the NFL Draft. However, the Cowboys including Jerry Jones always said that the team is ready to go “all in” yet they’ve been quiet so far. It wasn’t expected for the Cowboys to make any moves this free agency since they don’t have the money to do so.
They’re one of the lone NFL teams not to make any moves, but the rest of the NFC East have been very active this signing year. The Washington Commanders added three former Cowboy players including Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz and Dante Fowler. The former Dallas defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn is having a reunion party in Washington, and the Cowboys are missing the fun.
It may be that Jones forgot to go all in this offseason with roster moves to help improve the team. However, through the first two days of the NFL’s negotiating window, they only reached an agreement with long snapper Trent Seig. Dallas continues to lose players while not stocking for the future. According to a source, the Cowboys were probably never challenged enough these past three seasons in the NFC East and they’re comfortable where they’re at.
This could be the case, but according to Spotrac, the Cowboys have $8.8 million in cap space. If they gave new deals to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, they could have more but they’ve yet to have talks. J.K. Dobbins
After day two, Dobbins still remains one of the top available running backs. The Dallas Cowboys are playing the waiting game until everyone else in the league offers big deals to players. They’re probably doing this to potentially get a gem this offseason in preparation for rebuilding their roster in the draft. The Baltimore Ravens recently signed former Titans running back, Derrick Henry.
This move can pretty much confirm that Dobbins isn’t coming back to Baltimore. While Tony Pollard is signing with Tennesse, the Cowboys are left to fill a hole at running back. Dallas’ failure to sign Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Austin Ekeler or re-sign Pollard leaves them with more questions than answers. Dobbins is one of the best available and he’s still young at the age of 25.
After two days of free agency, it tells you that the Cowboys are looking to sign someone for cheap. They could do just that with Dobbins on a one-year deal until they figure out who to draft next month. Former Cowboy receiver Dez Bryant said on X that Dobbins may be a good fit.
Bobby Wagner
This might be the best time for the Dallas Cowboys to bring home Wagner to the team. There haven’t been many rumors circulating around his name since being released from the Seattle Seahawks. The final member of the Legion of Boom could be someone who could replace Leighton Vander-Esch. He isn’t expected to be back as his injuries will eventually force him to retire.
Wagner isn’t in his prime nor the same, but he could lead a young linebacker corp, especially come the postseason.
Arik Armstead
The Cowboys may need to spend a little money to make a splash and overhaul their defense. They recently lost Dante Fowler Jr. to the Commanders, so a powerful defensive product seems like a must. Mike Zimmer might enjoy adding someone like Armstead who could see him as modern-day Charles Haley. Dallas could still score big even with just over $8 million dollars to spend this offseason.
