Here are three potential landing spots for former Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl Wide Receiver, Allen Robinson after his release to save the team salary cap. According to a source, they release the veteran by freeing up $10 million in cap space. It has been a notable week for the Steelers as they’re cleaning up space to potentially make a splash in free agency. They also let go of Veteran Cornerback, Patrick Peterson after spending just one year with the team.
However, the most notable thing is that free agent quarterback Russell Wilson is visiting the Steelers’ facility. It seems like this may be the big signing that the Steelers want to make happen, after Wilson’s departure with the Denver Broncos. Pittsburgh wanted to keep Robinson if he was willing to reduce his salary. He was a veteran spokesperson in the locker room for the team and his presence was what the young receivers needed in Pittsburgh.
Robinson arrived to the team via a trade with the Rams last April. He played the entire season with the Steelers, catching 34 passes on 49 targets for 280 yards. Robinson was also a Pro Bowler during his beginning tenure in the league for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He led the NFL in 2015 with 15 touchdown grabs, but he had an illustrious career when he became a Bear.
He spent just one season with the Rams in 2022 before eventually being traded to the Steelers, only catching 33 passes. The Steelers will now look for a replacement in their receiving corps to complement Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. However, they’re open to trading Johnson at the right price. While they deal with that, here are three potential landing spots for Allen Robinson.

Three Potential Landing Spots for former Steelers Pro Bowl Receiver Allen Robinson
New Orleans Saints
The Saints only have two wide receivers under contract for this upcoming season; Chris Olave and A.T. Perry. Neither of them has Pro Bowl experience, so adding someone like Robinson could help guide them in their young journey. It’s going to be a long season for franchise Quarterback, Derek Carr if they don’t find reliable receivers for him. Despite his veteran status, he still could be an asset on deep routes and quick slants.
It could provide a different dimension for the Saints offense and something to work with to help alleviate the young receiving corps. Michael Thomas’ future looks uncertain after his comments following his apparent impending release. His release could make sense of his lack of production and the injuries he’s been facing for numerous years. Robinson still can ball hawk and jump high to make a play.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are probably going to have another wide receiver issue coming this new league year. There has been speculation that the Cowboys could trade Brandin Cooks for future draft picks. However, they’re expecting to release long-time veteran Michael Gallup so either way, they’ll need a new weapon. It would provide relief for Dak Prescott who hasn’t been able to find another open receiver other than CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson.
Prescott has often been using Ferguson as a security and it would help relieve the weight off of Lamb’s shoulders. The Cowboys are making room in their salary cap to potentially make a splash this upcoming free agency next week.
Green Bay Packers
Assuming that this would probably be a dream scenario for Robinson since the Packers are a contender under quarterback Jordan Love. He could move on to Green Bay as he enters the twilight of his career. The Penn State product probably has his best years behind him so it would probably be intelligent for him to land with the Packers who could go all the way. The Packers wide receiver room is filled with plenty of young talent like Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
Adding Robinson could make sense to add the experience he has to develop the young talent into a potential dream team.
