Only two Jaguars receivers caught passes in Week 6. And Trevor Lawrence might not play in Week 7, so you can’t rely on Jaguars receivers this week. Their run game is going to be even more important than normal. But on a short week that includes a travel day, it’s difficult to expect much from a Jags team who must just be clinging on until their Bye in a fortnight. The Saints will be licking their lips as they take on a Jags pass defense that’s ranked 27th for pass yards allowed and 21st for pass touchdowns. Kamara will probably do most of the heavy lifting this week, but who are the cheaper DraftKings DFS options that could make you some money?
Thursday Night DraftKings bargains
The Absolutely Obvious DraftKings DFS Pick – Rashid Shaheed
Shaheed only saw 34 targets in his rookie season, but he’s already seen 29 in six games this year. That’s a 12.9% target share. Shaheed is averaging 11 points per game in DraftKings and he’s the fifth most expensive receiver on the DraftKings Showdown slate.
The Saints’ slot receiver costs $5,000 in the DraftKings Showdown Captain Mode this week. He figures to be lined up opposite Tyson Campbell or Montaric Brown who are allowing 108.8 and 103.6 passer ratings respectively.
The Smart DraftKings DFS Pick – Foster Moreau
LSU product Moreau only has a 3.3% target share in 2023 but he’s converted that into 4.7 ppg so far. That’s a higher average than Saints number 1 tight end more than Juwan Johnson. Johnson is battling a calf injury and is “doubtful” for this game.
Moreau is valued at $3,200 on the DraftKings slate this week. Only 10 teams have allowed tight ends to score more DraftKings points than the Jaguars have in 2023, so Moreau is poised to put up solid numbers.
DraftKings DFS Longshot Pick – Kendre Miller
The rookie is splitting time with Kamara. Saints’ big-money free agent signing Jamaal Williams (well-known Pokémon fan) is on IR. Miller is averaging 8.9 yards per touch so far in 2023.
If this game is as tricky for the Jaguars as it looks from the outside there could be some garbage time touches for Miller. He should improve on his 5.4 ppg average, but at $1,800 on the DraftKings DFS slate, he’s a bargain.
DraftKings DFS Hail Mary Pick – Taysom Hill
It’s always Taysom Hill (well this week it could have been Keith Kirkwood, but his usage is spotty at best). Hill caught seven passes in Week 6. 6.7% target share overall this season. He only ended up with 49 receiving yards, but the new way of using him is interesting. Hill is averaging 5.3 yards per touch this season so the Saints should get him more touches of the ball.
Remembering how the Jaguars can’t defend passes for Toffee, Hill should make the most of any targets he gets this week. Depending on how you classify him Hill is either the fourth most expensive quarterback on DraftKings or the most expensive tight end on the Thursday night DraftKings DFS slate at $6,000.
Honorable Mention Time – Brenton Strange
Strange caught his first NFL touchdown last week and looked pretty dynamic doing so. He averaged 13.5 yards per touch in Week 6. He’s unlikely to have any impact on Thursday though. The Saints have defended tight ends better than anyone in the league! But he’s only $1,000 on DraftKings if you’re desperate.
