Last season, Goodwin played in 13 games for the Seahawks, starting in two of them. Goodwin posted solid contributions as a complementary receiver for the team, registering 27 receptions for 387 yards and four touchdowns. Goodwin’s best performance of the 2022 season came in Week 7, an emphatic 37-23 Seahawks win over the Chargers. Goodwin had several explosive plays in the game, as he caught four passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
When Goodwin went to the University of Texas from 2009-2012, he competed in football in addition to track and field for the Longhorns. In his collegiate career, Goodwin was a two-time NCAA champion in the long jump and a four-time All-American in track and field. Goodwin also represented the U.S internationally in track and field in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He finished in 10th place in the final long jump competition.
After playing out his senior year in football, Goodwin was subsequently drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 3rd round, with the 78th overall pick, of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Throughout his tenure with the Bills, Goodwin struggled with both injury and inconsistency. In his four years as a Bill, Goodwin recorded a total of 49 receptions for 780 yards and six touchdowns. Far too often, Goodwin was an unreliable target for the team, as he only had a catch rate of approximately 44 percent.
On March 9th, 2017, Goodwin signed a two-year deal with the 49ers. That season, he had his best year-to-date as a professional. In 2017, Goodwin led the team in receptions and receiving yards, with 56 and 962, respectively. This production came in spite of the instability at quarterback, as the team had three different players starting at least five games at the position.
Goodwin was then traded to the Eagles in April of 2020 after playing two more seasons with the 49ers. However, Goodwin never played for the Eagles, as he opted out of the 2020 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After sitting the year out, Goodwin signed with the Bears in April of 2021. He recorded 20 receptions for 313 yards and a touchdown.
