Last season, Ronald Jones suited up for the Chiefs after signing a one-year, $1.5 million contract on March 27th, 2022. Jones played in six games for the team, totaling 17 carries for 70 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Jones ultimately struggled to emerge from a crowded Chiefs running back room, as he was inactive for the first ten games of the season. However, Jones had his best statistical game, with 10 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown, in the regular season finale against the Raiders. Although Jones was active for the Super Bowl, he did not play in the game.

Jones spent the first four seasons of his career with the Buccaneers. He was drafted out of USC by the Buccaneers in the second round with the 38th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Jones made minimal contributions in his rookie season, as he registered 23 total carries for 44 rushing yards and one touchdown.

In his sophomore season in 2019, Jones saw his role expand in both the running and passing game. He started nine games for the team, finishing with 724 rushing yards, 309 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns.

In 2020, with Tom Brady now at quarterback, Jones was the Buccaneers leading rusher with 192 carries for 978 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. One highlight came in Week 10 against the Panthers, when Jones ran for a 98-yard touchdown, the longest play in franchise history. Jones played an important role in the Buccaneers run to the Super Bowl. Jones capped off the 2020 season with 61 rushing yards in their 31-9 Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs.

However, in 2021, Jones had a diminished role in lieu of Leonard Fournette. Jones finished the season with 101 carries for 428 yards and four touchdowns.
