Offensive guard Connor McGovern is coming off yet another adequate season starting for the Dallas Cowboys. During the 2022 campaign, the offensive lineman started in all 15 games in which he appeared and finished the season with a 53.5 PFF grade, making him the 64th-best guard in the league out of 77 eligible players. Despite the underwhelming mark, the Cowboys still found a way to make it all the way to the NFC Divisional Round. However, their Super Bowl aspirations fell short after losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

Connor McGovern originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the Dallas Cowboys, the Penn State’s rookie season ended before it ever truly began. McGovern missed the entirety of the preseason with a torn pectoral muscle and landed on the injured reserve prior to Week 1. With the offensive lineman sidelined, the Cowboys went 8-8 in what would be the final year of the Jason Garrett Era.

The offensive guard finally made his professional debut in 2020. Starting the year as a backup, McGovern finally found his way into the starting lineup when Zack Martin suffered a concussion. The second-year professional played admirably in relief and, thanks to a wide variety of injuries, maintained the starting job even when Martin returned to the field, as Martin shifted to right tackle. In total, McGovern started eight of the 14 games in which he appeared as the Cowboys struggled to a 6-10 record.

McGovern returned to a reserve role in 2021, primarily playing at guard but also moonlighting as a tight end and fullback. In total, since signing his rookie contract. Connor McGovern has appeared in 45 games while making 25 starts.
