This NFL season is flying by as we are entering week 10 of the Fantasy Football season. More injuries keep piling up for fantasy contributors. As the weeks go on the waiver wire becomes increasingly important. With the Bengals, Patriots, Jets, and Ravens on a bye, we will help you navigate your lineup for week 10.
Week 10 Fantasy Football: Starts and Sits
Quarterback Starts: Justin Fields
Justin Fields is beginning to be the player we thought he was when he entered the NFL. The Chicago Bears coaching staff has begun to utilize Fields’ greatest strength which is his legs. Over the past four weeks, Fields is averaging 102 rushing yards per game.

During that stretch he is QB1 and the Bears are averaging 26 points per game. Before this stretch, the Bears were averaging 16 points per game. Fields is second in the NFL in quarterback red zone carries with 18. Start him with confidence this week and every week until something changes.
Quarterback Sits: Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert
Dak Prescott was QB4 in Week 8 and he looks to build on that with the Cowboys returning from their bye week against the Green Bay Packers. With the Cowboys dominant defense and running game, the pass attempts have not been there since Prescott returned from his hand injury. This week Prescott has a matchup against a Green Bay Packers defense that is great against the pass and terrible against the run. According to Fantasypros opposing quarterbacks are averaging 13 fantasy points against the Packers. While opposing running backs are averaging over 20 points per game against the Packers. The Cowboys defense should be able to control this game against a bad Packers offense which may limit Prescott’s opportunities in the passing game this week.
Justin Herbert is quietly having a disappointing fantasy season. He is QB14 on the year and has one touchdown or less in half of the games so far this year. He is 31st in the NFL in yards per attempt and bottom ten in touchdown rate. With Herbert still without his top two wide receivers, he shouldn’t be trusted in a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
Running Back Starts: Jamaal Williams and Cordarralle Patterson
Jamaal Williams has been one of the best late round fantasy picks so far this season. His ADP consensus slot was RB49 and so far this season he is RB15.
Most fantasy points per snap by a RB (PPR)
1.Jamaal Williams – .59
2.Austin Ekeler – .56
3.Nick Chubb – .54
4.Derrick Henry – .53
5.Khalil Herbert – .51
6.Breece Hall – .50
7.Clyde Edwards-Helaire – .48
8t.Christian McCaffrey – .46
8t.D'Andre Swift – .46
10.Tony Pollard – .45— Nathan Jahnke (@PFF_NateJahnke) November 2, 2022
With D’Andre Swift seemingly being banged up for the rest of the season, Williams has RB2 value for the rest of the season. Williams is top five in red zone carries and touchdowns and will see a Chicago Bears defense that is bottom five in fantasy points allowed to the position. The Bears have allowed 15 rushing touchdowns this season.
Cordarralle Patterson returned this past week from injury and scored 18 fantasy points. He jumped back in as the lead back for the Atlanta Falcons. Before he got injured in Week 4 Patterson was sitting at RB12 and he has jumped right back into that. Four red zone carries in Week 9 give him great touchdown potential. Especially against a Carolina Panthers defense that just allowed four red zone touchdowns to Joe Mixon in Week 9.
Running Back Sits: James Conner and Brian Robinson
James Conner was a fantasy breakout last year but has been a disappointment so far this season. Conner averages just 10 PPR points per game. He has missed a couple of games due to injury and returned this past week, playing 71% of the snaps. What made Conner great for fantasy last year was his insane touchdown luck. 42% of his fantasy points came from touchdowns, this season he only has one touchdown which was way back in Week 1. This week he will see a Los Angeles Rams defense that is second in the NFL in rushing touchdowns allowed.
Brian Robinson is a feel-good story after returning from the tragic shooting that happened before the season started. But he has been wildly inefficient as a runner since his return. Robinson is dead last in NFC running back yards per carry on the season, he is also a non-factor in the passing game as a receiver. Also, over the past three weeks, he has been out-snapped by teammate Antonio Gibson.
Wide Receiver Starts: Chris Olave and Devonta Smith
Due to the injuries in the New Orleans Saints receiving core Chris Olave has become the Saint’s undisputed number-one option in the passing game. If you take out Week 1 which was Olave’s first NFL game he is averaging 10 targets per game. Olave has a 24% target share, he has 43 more targets than the next closest Saints receiver. He has 354 more yards than the next Saints receiver. Olave is a bonafide number-one receiver at this point. He will see a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that ranks 26th in the league in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers.
Devonta Smith was one of my starts last week and that failed miserably. Just 22 yards on two targets against the Houston Texans, so that’s my bad on that. You should run back to throw him in your lineup again due to his recent history against the Washington Commanders. Smith averages 88 yards in three games against the Commanders. Smith had 35 PPR points in Week 3 against Washington.

Wide Receiver Sits: CeeDee Lamb and Michael Pittman Jr
Ceedee Lamb has had an odd season. He averages 10 targets per game with Cooper Rush and eight with Dak Prescott. He is WR15 on the season and has yet to have a breakout top-12 wide receiver game so far this season. The Green Bay Packers do a great job of shutting down big plays in the passing game. The Cowboys may look to commit to the running game which only hurts Lamb’s target share. With injuries in the Packer’s secondary that will give Lamb a chance but don’t be surprised if his targets are lacking this week.
Michael Pittman Jr had 22 yards on six targets in Week 9. The quarterback change has not helped Pittman and the coaching change may not help either. The Colts fired Frank Reich and brought in former center Jeff Saturday. Saturday has no professional or collegiate experience as a coach. There is no way to know what Colt’s offense will look like now. My guess would be is it continues to be run heavy. Over the last three games, the Colts have only scored two touchdowns, and Pittman hasn’t scored since Week 1. Avoid all Colts until we see what the new offense looks like.
Tight End Starts: Cade Otton
Since Cameron Brate went down with an injury Cade Otton is playing 62 snaps per game. He scored his first touchdown last week against the Los Angeles Rams. The Seattle Seahawks rank 22nd in defending the tight end position. With the teams on bye, Otton is a good waiver wire pickup and starter this week.

Tight End Sits: Robert Tonyan
Robert Tonyan is second on the Green Bay Packers in yards and third in targets. The Packers offense has struggled and so Tonyan has as well, Tonyan has just 86 yards on his last 14 targets. He has been a solid waiver wire pick up but the Packers offensive struggles may persuade you to go in another direction. The Packers will see a Cowboys defense that excels in defending tight ends. Also with the matchup against Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence, Tonyan may spend more time as a blocker more so than as a receiver.
