Jalen Hurts Fantasy Football Outlook 2022

Jalen Hurts fantasy football outlook 2022. After an impressive 2021 season what can fantasy managers expect from Hurts in 2022?

Jalen Hurts was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, the former Oklahoma Sooner saw action in 15 games and started four. He is a dual-threat quarterback for a team that has a great shot at winning their division this season. But what is the outlook for Jalen Hurts in fantasy football for the 2022 season?

2022 Fantasy Football Outlook: Jalen Hurts

2021 Recap

In 2021 Hurts was QB1 as he became the Eagles full-time starter. In 15 games with Hurts under center, the Eagles went 8-7 last season. He threw for 3,144 yards (21st in the league) and 16 touchdowns (tied for 23rd) with nine interceptions in 2021. And while those are not necessarily eye-popping numbers, 2021 was Hurts’ second season in the NFL and his first as a full-time starter after he started only four games in 2020.

And Hurts can do damage on the ground as well. He also carried the ball 139 times for 784 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2021. His rushing statistics ranked first among all quarterbacks last season. And even though he missed time in 2021, Hurts still accounted for 25.3 percent of the Eagles carries, 28.9 percent of their rushing yards, and 40% of their rushing touchdowns. Hurts finished the 2021 season as QB9.

2022 Outlook

The most noteworthy addition the Eagles made on the offensive side of the ball this off-season was when they traded for wide receiver A.J. Brown (who provides impressive yards after the catch (YAC) ability) during the 2022 NFL Draft. Talented receiver DeVonta Smith now has an NFL season under his belt and should be even more impressive in this second season, after having 916 receiving yards and five touchdowns in his rookie campaign. The tandem of Brown and Smith could be one of the best in the league in 2022. And the Eagles still have tight end Dallas Goedert on their roster, so Hurts has some weapons at his disposal.

In addition to the talented playmakers they have on offense, the Eagles, unlike their division rival, Dallas Cowboys, have what should be one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Playing behind an impressive offensive line should help Hurts remain upright and healthy and open up both the passing and running game. Both Brown and Goedert and some members of the Eagles offensive line received nods at their respective positions when the Last Word on NFL department made picks for the 2022 NFC East All-Division Team on offense. Click here to see who made the 2022 NFC East All-Division Team on defense.

Hurts has dual-threat ability and that can provide a high floor and ceiling in fantasy football. Given the impact, Hurts can make with both his legs and his arm, the weapons he has at the skill positions, and the Eagles impressive offensive line, Jalen Hurts could finish the year as a top-five quarterback in fantasy football, after finishing last season as QB9.
