Four-year offensive lineman, Joseph Noteboom, has signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Noteboom was selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. He has spent his entire four-year career in Los Angeles playing multiple positions along the offensive line.

If your team is looking for an offensive lineman with size and versatility, then you got yourself in Noteboom. At 6”5, 320 lbs., Noteboom is someone who is capable of playing any position on the offensive line. His first four seasons were spent filling in for injured players all across the line of scrimmage. Sadly, Noteboom was never able to lock down a permanent starting position. His play has been widely inconsistent since the time of his rookie season. He is likely being signed solely based on his versatility and potential. While there is a chance Noteboom could win a position battle in training camp, his versatility is just too valuable to have him locked in at one position.

Noteboom was drafted by Los Angeles in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent the entirety of his rookie season as a depth and rotational player for the Rams. As a matter of fact, Noteboom only played in 79 snaps his rookie season. Sadly, it seems Noteboom’s performance is worse the more snaps he plays. He played a little over 600 snaps in 2020 and had an abysmal PFF grade of 60.3. It was the most snaps he played in a single season in his career thus far.

A depth signing is most likely what Noteboom will end up being. He has sadly never reached the potential that you would expect of someone drafted in the third round. This does not mean Noteboom is not a good signing. Expectations just have to be tempered and based in reality.
