Mike Daniels Will Sign With Cincinnati Bengals
Daniels spent the 2019 season with the 3-12-1 Lions and put up some less than stellar numbers. He finished the season with 10 tackles and one sack in just nine games. He had some struggles with injury throughout the entirety of the season, missing a total of seven games.
Daniels initially entered the league as a fourth-round draft pick out of Iowa back in 2012. He was selected by the Packers and spent the first seven years of his career there. He was a primary rotational player along the defensive line for the team throughout his first two seasons in the league. In 2014, Daniels became a full-time starter and soon became known as one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL. In 2018, Daniels sustained a foot injury and was placed on injured reserve. Daniels was released by the Green Bay Packers on July 24th, 2019.
The Detroit Lions quickly signed Daniels to a one-year $9.1 million contract. He played in a total of nine games before being placed on injured reserve in December.
Throughout the course of his career, Daniels has compiled a total of 235 tackles, 30 sacks, and 1 interception. Daniels was also named to the list of top 100 players in the NFL twice throughout his career. He was selected for the 2017 Pro Bowl as well.
While Daniels may no longer be in the prime of his career, he may still be able to provide some quality play for his new team. If he can stay healthy he still has the ability to have great success in the NFL.
