With sports finally starting to be reintroduced into society, Last Word on Pro Football is breaking down the schedules of all 32 NFL teams. This series will consist of the most difficult (1-8) and easiest (9-16) games among each team’s 16-game slate. The focus for this article is the easiest games on the 2020 New York Giants schedule.
New York Giants Easiest Games in 2020
9. Week 2 at Chicago Bears
Two storied franchises will meet early during the season. The outcome of this game will depend on who the Chicago Bears field as their quarterback. If Mitchell Trubisky is their quarterback, this should be a win for the Giants. However, Nick Foles being under center could easily cause a completely different game. The Bears also have a top 10 defense.
10. Week 9 at Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins have been a bad team since Kirk Cousins left. And even while he was there, the team was not very talented. Second year quarterback Dwayne Haskins will need to make major strides before he causes defensive coordinators to scheme for him.
11. Week 10 vs Philadelphia Eagles
This will be the second meeting of the season between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles, just three weeks after they squared off at Lincoln Financial. The Eagles have supplied Carson Wentz with a lot of weapons, but the Giants continually play the Eagles hard. Carson Wentz’ health is always a concern and by this time of the season, its plausible that the Eagles have a different quarterback under center.
12. Week 15 vs. Cleveland Browns
The return of Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ has had this matchup circled on his calendar. This will be the first time he plays the Giants since he was traded last off-season.The Cleveland Browns have significantly retooled their offensive line and have the talent to do some damage. However, the team will not play well unless quarterback Baker Mayfield makes major strides after a down year.
13. Week 17 vs Dallas Cowboys
A Week 17 game at home could potentially be big for the New York Giants. The team has improved over the past two seasons, although they probably will not compete for a playoff spot this year and by this point in time, the division will probably already be locked up.
14. Week 14 vs Arizona Cardinals
DeAndre Hopkins was a massive pickup for the Arizona Cardinals and their quarterback Kyler Murray. Add 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Simmons to the mix and the Cardinals are quietly becoming a well rounded team. But, although they have some nice additions, Kyler Murray needs to continue to improve off of his stellar rookie campaign and avoid a sophomore slump. Coupled with the fact the Cardinals had a bottom five defense last year, this will be on the easier side relative to the rest of the Giants schedule.
15. Week 12 at Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow will be a very good quarterback in the NFL. However, the Cincinnati Bengals were the worst team in the league last season for a reason. They had one of the worst offensive lines and one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Burrow will help the Bengals over the long haul, but this should be an easy win for the Giants.
16. Week 6 vs Washington Redskins
This should be the easiest game for the Giants this season. Last season, the Giants beat the Redskins 24-3 at home. They also swept Washington in both of their matchups last seasons. While the Redskins have addressed some of their woes, they are still not a good football team yet.
