Five New Orleans Saints Defensive Players to Look Out for Next Season

New Orleans Saints Defensive

While we are still amid the coronavirus pandemic, football fans everywhere have begun a countdown until the start of the season. As the off-season continues, New Orleans Saints fans are still left to keeping up with the league’s change. Taking a look at the defense, here are five New Orleans Saints defensive players to look out for next season.

Five New Orleans Saints Players to Keep an Eye on in 2020

The Veterans

  1. Cameron Jordan– the defensive end has been with the Saints since 2011. Statistically, Jordan hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. He hasn’t missed a game and still has found ways to shine. A veteran to the game, Jordan is at an age where commentators will start to compare his style of playing to his age. It is going to be fun watching him defy those who are believing he should hang it up soon.
  2. Demario Davis– While the Saints lost Drew Brees for a couple of games this season, Davis became the leader for the pregame huddle. It was a quick show of his leadership and aggressiveness in the game. His mantra to prowl, kill, and eat took things to a new level for the players during the games. His introduction to the hunting season showed us that he was focused on the season. He ended the season with four sacks and 87 solo tackles. He was in the midst of plenty of important plays during the season. We can look forward to seeing more of his leadership on and off the field this season.
  3. Malcolm Jenkins– After seven years of playing for another team, Jenkins returns back to where he started. The change was made after the Saints lost Vonn Bell to the Cincinnati Bengals. Jenkins comes with years of experience, adding onto the Saints already mature defense.

The Rookies

  1. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson– C.J. probably should have been first. The rookie will be entering his second year with the Saints. During his rookie season, he was known for his aggressiveness on the field. He ended his rookie season with 46 tackles and an interception. We can expect Johnson to receive more time on the field this season.
  2. Shy Tuttle – Like Gardner-Johnson, Shy Tuttle is another rookie who made a name for himself this season. His best play for the season was his interception and stiff arm against Matt Ryan. Look for Tuttle to be used more in the game. The goal would probably be to see if how mature Tuttle will be as a player

These are merely just some players to watch. Of course, there are others such as Marshon Lattimore and the highly anticipated return of Alex Anzalone. The team has equipped itself with plenty of talent for the season.
