Trevon Hill 2020 NFL Draft Profile

Every once in a while when writing these draft profiles, you come across a player whose film just leaves you speechless. Whether it’s their versatility or speed on the field, some player’s film just seems like an endless highlight reel. One player who fits this description is Miami EDGE rusher Trevon Hill.

Before he was impressing scouts with his athleticism and versatility at the college level, Trevon Hill was wreaking havoc on high school quarterbacks in Norfolk, Virginia. The versatile defender helped will Salem High School’s football program to a state championship appearance and racked up multiple awards and honors during his time at the school. Upon graduating from Salem High School, Hill signed with the Virginia Tech Hokies and redshirted his first year with the program.

After four full seasons with the Hokies, Hill decided to leave the school and transferred to the University of Miami, where he would play his final year of college football. During his one year with the Hurricanes, Hill racked up 27 tackles while seeing action in all twelve games of the season. Upon the completion of the 2019 season, Hill decided to enter his name into the 2020 NFL Draft in hopes of getting a chance to play football at the next level.

Bottom Line on Trevon Hill

When it’s all said and done, Trevon Hill has the potential to make his mark on the league one day. With his great motor and impressive drive, Hill has the potential to make an NFL team as a quality backup and special teams player. Despite all of his good qualities, Hill does have some less-than-impressive traits that could scare NFL teams away. The reason Hill was forced to transfer to Miami for his senior season was that Virginia Tech had dismissed him from their football program. The dismissal came after a blowout loss during his junior season and, while it’s never been stated exactly what he did to earn the dismissal, one can only assume it must’ve been pretty ugly.

Hopefully, once he enters the NFL, Hill will begin to take his off-the-field matters seriously as one mistake in the league can cost you your job. In the end, Hill has the talent and size it takes to play the EDGE rusher position in the NFL, but he needs to be placed in the correct situation. If he’s able to find himself in the right scheme, Hill has the potential to have a long, quality career in the NFL.
