Chris Orr 2020 NFL Draft Profile

Chris Orr was a solid contributor to the Wisconsin defense since arriving as a freshman in 2015. He saw a lot of playing time all four years and ended his Wisconsin career with 187 tackles, 14 sacks, and two interceptions. This past season he helped anchor one of the top defenses in the country. In his time at Wisconsin, he received all-conference honors and as a senior was named the team MVP by coaches and teammates. His 11.5 sacks this past season have opened a lot of eyes at the next level. He’s getting talked about quite a bit heading into the NFL draft.

Chris Orr attended high school at De Soto High School in De Soto, TX. He was a standout linebacker in high school and received offers from numerous division one colleges including Arkansas, North Texas, Kansas, and Nevada, among others. He decided to commit to Wisconsin and saw the field in each of his four seasons there.  Orr was all-state at linebacker in his senior season.

Orr had a tremendous senior season at Wisconsin. He led the team in tackles with 71 and added 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He definitely stuffed the stat-book and his sack totals will interest plenty of NFL general managers. He’s a gifted athlete and steady tackler with a nose for the football. He was a second-team all-Big 10 selection in 2019.

Projection: sixth or seventh round

Bottom Line

Chris Orr showed up in a big way in 2019 and recorded 11.5 sacks from the inside linebacker spot. He also had eight quarterback hurries and five passes defended. He’s a very natural athlete and has the ability to lower the boom on ball-carriers. He’s a bit undersized for the middle linebacker spot in the NFL but has a frame that could add some additional weight. He has an incredible motor and will not be out-hustled. He could be a steal in the final two rounds of the draft.
