Vonn Bell Signs With Cincinnati Bengals
Bell started 13 of the 16 games in 2019, recording 89 tackles with four being for a loss on the season. He also recorded one interception, five fumble recoveries, and his first-ever defensive touchdown. Bell had one and a half sacks and four quarterback hits on the season as well.
He initially entered the league as the 61st overall pick of the second round in the 2016 NFL Draft and started in all 16 games his rookie season. As a rookie, he recorded 87 tackles with two of them being for a loss on the season. He also logged one fumble recovery and one sack that same season.
In total, Bell spent four full seasons with the Saints. During his time there, the second-round pick recorded one total interception, eight sacks, and 14 pass deflections. Additionally, he’s registered seven fumble recoveries, seven forced fumbles, one defensive touchdown, and eight quarterback hits.
He has been seen as a jack-of-all-trades throughout the course of his career in New Orleans. Up until last season, Bell had registered time at the cornerback, outside linebacker, and middle linebacker position. It wasn’t until last season that Bell finally settled into his more natural position at strong safety.
Bell has yet to be voted to the Pro Bowl in his brief career. He also has yet to receive First-Team All-Pro honors. Bell played his college at Ohio St where he helped lead the team to a National Championship victory over the Oregon Ducks. For what it’s worth, Bell did make Pete Prisco’s top-100 free agents list coming in 77th overall and the seventh-ranked safety. Bell is currently 25 years of age.
