Top 25 Wide Receivers: 2019 Fantasy Football Rankings
25. Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals
Boyd is coming off a breakout 2018. He had over 1,000 yards and seven scores as the only option in the Bengals’ passing game sans A.J. Green. With Green back, Boyd will see less double teams, and should continue his breakout in 2019.
24. Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons
Ridley had 10 touchdowns in 2018 as a rookie. He quickly built a rapport with quarterback Matt Ryan, and had great success opposite superstar wideout Julio Jones. With another offseason of training under his belt, Ridley should push 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns again in 2019.
23. Julian Edelman, New England Patriots
Edelman is fresh off a dominant performance in the Patriots’ 13-3 Super Bowl victory over the Rams. He is perhaps the most polished inside receiver in the NFL, and he is Tom Brady‘s go-to target. 1200 yards are well within his reach in 2019.
22. D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers
Moore showed a lot of promise in the latter half of the 2018 season, including a 157-yard outburst against the Lions in week 10. He’s an underrated route runner, and his ability to gain yards after the catch is impressive for a young player. He should eclipse 1000 yards in 2019.
21. Sammy Watkins, Kansas City Chiefs
Nobody really knows if Tyreek Hill is going to be around for the Chiefs in 2019 (He’s left off this list for that reason). If he isn’t, Watkins will climb up this list a few spots. His speed on the outside complements Patrick Mahomes and his massive arm perfectly. Watkins could be due for a huge season in 2019.
20. Alshon Jeffery, Philadelphia Eagles
Jeffery had 843 yards despite playing only 13 games in 2018. Carson Wentz appears to be healthy. DeSean Jackson is back in Philly to take some pressure off of Jeffery. 10 touchdowns and well over 1000 yards should be Jeffery’s goal in 2019.
19. Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks
Lockett finally broke out last year, scoring 10 touchdowns and emerging as one of the top deep threats in the NFL. Russell Wilson has shown no fear in forcing the ball to him, and he should improve his numbers across the board in 2019.
18. Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions
Golladay caught 70 passes for over 1000 yards in 2018. He and Marvin Jones form a dangerous duo in Detroit. Golladay’s size puts him squarely in the conversation for 10 touchdowns in 2019.
17. Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Godwin is an excellent bet for a breakout 2019. Tampa Bay wants to throw the ball a lot. Godwin and Mike Evans form a monstrous wide receiver tandem. Godwin’s underrated route running ability will allow Jameis Winston to hit him all over the field. He could easily push for a top 12-14 slot by season’s end.
16. Brandin Cooks, Los Angeles Rams
Cooks has had the misfortune of losing two consecutive Super Bowls on two different teams. His drive to get his Rams back there will be a big factor in 2019. The speedy receiver is a threat to score from anywhere on the field, and he will continue to make plays in 2019.
15. Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams
While his teammate Brandin Cooks is flashy, Woods is smooth. He has excellent hands and is a quick and decisive route runner. Jared Goff loves to target him on third down, and he should continue to see his fair target share even with Cooper Kupp back in 2019.
14. Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys
Consistency is the only factor holding Cooper back from a top 10 slot here. He’s among the most explosive wide receivers in the league, but has shown a tendency to disappear at times. He started to string together excellent games after being traded to Dallas last season, and will look to build on that momentum in 2019. If he succeeds in doing so, 1500 yards is an acceptable bet for Cooper in 2019.
13. Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings
Thielen has great hands and underrated athleticism. He plays all over the field, and became Kirk Cousins‘ most reliable target in 2018. While he probably won’t start as hot as last season, 1200 yards and 8-10 touchdowns sounds reasonable for Thielen in 2019.
12. Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings
Diggs has suffered from ‘Amari Cooper syndrome’ at times, disappearing for long stretches of games. However, he is far too talented for that trend to continue. He may be the NFL’s best route runner, and should have a similar season to Adam Thielen in 2019, with bonus points for his explosiveness.
11. Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers
Though he’s not among the fastest receivers in the NFL, Allen makes up for it with elite hands and toughness after the catch. He and Philip Rivers have a strong connection, and with a number of talented weapons on offense in Los Angeles, he’ll have plenty of room to make plays all over the field. He’ll catch close to 100 passes in 2019, and 1500 yards isn’t out of reach.
10. T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts
Andrew Luck looked better than anyone could have imagined in 2018. Hilton was a primary beneficiary of that, racking up almost 1300 yards. He plays all over the field and is an elite deep threat. He will look to build on his 1300 yard, 6 touchdown effort in 2019.
9. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
Green is a borderline top five receiver when he’s healthy. He put up almost 700 yards and 6 touchdowns in only 9 games last year. Andy Dalton loves to force the ball to him, and his size and speed make him a matchup nightmare. 1200 yards and 10-12 touchdowns are in Green’s sights in 2019.
8. Antonio Brown, Oakland Raiders
Brown is ready to set up shop in a new city. Oakland made a number of splash moves on offense, including signing Tyrell Williams to play opposite Brown. We’ve all seen what Brown can do. He makes a decent offense into a great offense. It may take him a few weeks to settle in and find a rhythm with Derek Carr, but when it happens, look out.
7. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers
Smith-Schuster came into his own in 2018, with 111 catches for 1426 yards. With Antonio Brown gone, he could see nearly 200 targets in 2019. The Steelers are going mold their scheme around him as their offensive centerpiece. He’s excellent after the catch and has more speed than people think. 1500 yards and 10-12 touchdowns is a safe bet for 2019.
6. Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints
Thomas may be the NFL’s most sure handed receiver. He is a target hog in the Saints’ offense, and Drew Brees trusts him enough to target him at all costs. He’s a true possession receiver, and his large frame and long arms allow him to make contested catches all over the field. He should be a borderline top five receiver for the foreseeable future.
Top Five Fantasy Football Rankings: Wide Receiver
5. Odell Beckham, Cleveland Browns
Beckham was the talk of the offseason after being traded to Cleveland to pair with Baker Mayfield. He is the total package in a modern receiver. He has elite speed, elite hands, elite route running ability and now a young, talented quarterback to get him the ball on time. He’s in line for a massive 2019.
4. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons
Jones is coming off his fifth straight season with 1400 plus receiving yards. The Falcons need to start figuring out a way to get him in the end zone, as he has only 31 touchdowns over that span. Regardless of whether or not his scoring numbers improve, he’s the best bet week in and week out to top 100 receiving yards.
3. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Evans is coming off a 1,500 yard season in 2018, despite up and down quarterback play. His massive frame allows him to box out virtually every NFL defensive back and make contested catches with the best of them. He should see close to 150 targets in 2019, and 12 touchdowns could be in his future.
2. Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers
Adams is the most underrated receiver in the NFL. He does everything well, at all levels of the field. His red zone connection with Aaron Rodgers is the best in the NFL. He also has a knack for making plays when the Packers need it most. He’s a safe bet for around 100 yards and a touchdown every week. 15 touchdowns should be his goal for 2019.
1. DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans
“Nuk” is the NFL’s best receiver. He has Hall-of-Fame caliber hands and elite speed. He’s also incredibly durable, missing only one game in his six-year career. He’s consistent, dominant and does it all with a silent demeanor. He is one of perhaps two or three receivers worth taking in the first round in a standard league. 1500 yards and 15 touchdowns are a good bet for Hopkins’ 2019.
