Frank Clark Best Team Fits

Frank Clark could be on the move, as NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that three teams are interested in the Seattle Seahawks pass rusher.

After months of waiting and anticipation, it is finally NFL Draft week. In recent years, the week of the NFL Draft can also mean lots and lots of trade activity — both for draft picks and players. In this case, there appears to be some noise being made with the latter. On Monday morning, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Good Morning Football that Seattle Seahawks pass-rusher Frank Clark is drawing trade interest from several teams including the Chiefs, Colts, and Jets. When it comes to trades, none of them are any fun if there was no analysis prior to the deal. That said, it is now the perfect time to be analyzing the best team fit for Frank Clark.

Best Team Fits for Frank Clark

Kansas City Chiefs

Out of the three teams that are known to be interested in Clark’s services, one of them stands out the most in the sweepstakes — the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City is easily the best fit for Frank Clark. The Chiefs have a need on their edge positions with the trade of Dee Ford to the 49ers and the release of Justin Houston, who signed with the Colts. Clark has experienced a system similar to Kansas City’s new 4-3 defensive scheme under new defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, making him a perfect fit for the Chiefs.

Indianapolis Colts

Clark would also fit well with the Colts. Indianapolis runs a 4-3 defense as well, which is the scheme Clark has played in his entire career. Indianapolis’ defense, in particular, was one of the NFL’s best last season. The one thing that puts the Colts as the second-best fit on this list, however, is that someone, either Clark or Houston, would have to play out of position. Both Clark and Houston play on the right side of the defensive formation, meaning someone would need to move to left defensive end.

New York Jets

New York undoubtedly needs Clark more than any team on this list. Outside of Leonard Williams, the Jets’ defensive line boasts subpar talent, and Williams has not produced as much as they would like, either. That may change this season under new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, though. It is also possible that New York is not actually interested in Clark from the standpoint of what he can provide as a player. Perhaps the Jets are more interested in using a Clark trade as a way to trade down in the first round of the NFL Draft. The Jets have made it known that they want to trade down from No. 3 overall, so why not trade for Frank Clark and swap firsts with Seattle in the deal?
