Foster Moreau 2019 NFL Draft Profile
Foster Moreau was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and went on to play football and basketball at Jesuit High School. During his senior year, the dual sport athlete helped his football team win the 5A state title while recording 37 receptions, 550 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He earned second-team All-State honors and finished his career with 87 receptions and 15 touchdowns. As a basketball player, Moreau averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds per game his senior year serving as the team’s starting center.
The New Orleans native dreamed of playing for LSU and his dream came true when the Tigers offered him a scholarship in 2015. Moreau, who was listed as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, accepted his only FBS scholarship offer and enrolled at LSU. As a freshman, the tight end saw very limited action and was not targeted all year. In 2016, Moreau was still a backup but hauled in six receptions, 79 receptions, and one touchdown. Moreau earned himself a starting position in 2017 and was a much bigger focal point of the offense. He hauled in 24 receptions, 278 receiving yards and three touchdowns as a junior including a two-touchdown performance against Troy.
As a senior, Moreau was selected to wear LSU’s no.18 jersey, which is a great honor. The jersey is given to a player that is well respected in the locker room, has a great work ethic and is considered one of the best character guys in the locker room. Players such as Bennie Logan, Jacob Hester, Tre’Davious White, and Matt Mauck are some of the notable names to wear the number previously.
During the season, Moreau put up similar numbers to his junior year hauling in 22 receptions, 272 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. He served as a team captain and his 52 career receptions rank seventh in program history among tight ends. Moreau participated in the 2019 Senior Bowl and the 2019 NFL Combine.

Bottom Line
Tight end is a position that NFL offenses value heavily once again. Players like Rob Gronkowski, Greg Olsen, and Travis Kelce create matchup nightmares for the defense and their ability to block keeps defenses guessing. Moreau will never be a team’s number one tight end, but he’s more than capable of being a special number two. His best attribute may be run blocking but he is a serviceable pass catcher especially in underneath routes. Moreau was never targeted much in the red zone in LSU’s offense but with his size, ability and basketball background, he could be a serviceable red zone option in the NFL. Plus, you know you are getting a hard worker with high character. Teams that run plenty of two tight end formations (which seems like most of the league) should jump at the opportunity to draft Moreau in the middle rounds.
