Ramon Foster Signs New Contract With Pittsburgh Steelers
Ramon Foster has spent his entire ten-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 328 pound offensive guard started all 16 games for a Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line that didn’t get the respect it deserved in 2018. Foster finished the season as the 16th-ranked guard in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.
Ramon Foster is known for his consistency at the position. Over the last two seasons, he was called for only two offensive penalties (both holding). He was tasked with keeping the oft-injured Ben Roethlisberger upright and healthy, and when Foster was on the field, he did just that.
Foster initially entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2009 season. Breaking camp with the team, Foster played in 14 games as a rookie, starting four. Foster built upon this impressive rookie campaign by starting in eight of the 12 games in which he appeared during 2010.
The former undrafted free agent thrust himself into the starting rotation on a full-time basis in the 2011 season. Foster started 14 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers and also earned the starting nod in Pittsburgh’s wild card playoff game against the Denver Broncos.
Foster started every game in which he appeared for the next seven seasons, never appearing in fewer than 14 games in a season. In total, the former undrafted free agent has appeared in 146 of a possible 160 career games, including 120 of a possible 128 games since 2011. The 6’5″ guard has never earned a Pro Bowl appearance throughout his career.
