Free-agent guard Richie Incognito cannot stay out of the news lately, and for all the wrong reasons. On Wednesday morning, Incognito was involved in an altercation with another man at a gym in Boca Raton, FL. Matters escalated rather quickly, which led the perennial Pro Bowler to allegedly threw a dumbbell at the man. He has since been detained by local police and has been placed on involuntary psychiatric hold.
TMZ confirmed the incident via their Twitter page.

Richie Incognito’s Erratic Behavior Continues
Florida law enforcement has confirmed the incident, but will not say if Incognito was formally arrested. The 34-year old guard has not made any comments regarding the incident as of yet, given his involuntary psychiatric hold.
Incognito has had one of the more bizarre off-seasons of any NFL player in recent memory. From taking a pay cut in the final year of his contract with the Buffalo Bills to firing his agent and then retiring – both on Twitter, and bullying the Bills to release him a mere two days ago. It has recently been confirmed that the night prior to Incognito’s forced release, he was spotted buying rounds of shots at a Florida bar as a “pre-release party” of sorts. Never a dull moment.
The four-time Pro Bowler was enjoying a career resurgence with the Bills upon signing with the club in 2014. His forced release on Monday came as a surprise to both Bills fans and players alike. Given his consistently high level of play heading into his mid-30s, Incognito was likely to have many suitors lining up for his services in advance of this most recent incident. Only time will tell if he will be forced to stick to his original plan of retiring and focusing on his own personal well-being.
