Report: Arizona Cardinals Will Sign Sam Bradford to One-Year, $20 Million Deal With Option for Second Year
Bradford spent his last two season with the Minnesota Vikings. He only appeared in two games in 2017, due to a lingering knee issue. In his limited time, he completed 32 of 43 passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions, posting a 124.4 passer rating. Bradford was traded to the Vikings from the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 season after Vikings starter Teddy Bridgewater went down with an ACL injury.
He started 15 games that year, reestablishing that he could be a high-caliber starter in the league. His 71.6% completion percentage set a new NFL single season record. Overall, he had a 99.3 passer rating en route to 3,877 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.
Before going to the Vikings, Bradford played one season with the Chip Kelly-led Philadelphia Eagles. He was part of a trade between the St. Lois Rams and Eagles where they basically swapped quarterbacks. Nick Foles went to the Rams, while Philadelphia received Bradford. It was an up-and-down season for Bradford. He managed to put an 86.4 passer rating while throwing for 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
In his first season, Bradford took home offensive rookie of the year honors. He showed a lot of promise and poise in the pocket, throwing for 3,512 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. His downfall, however, was his health. In his sophomore season, he missed six games due to injury. Then, his fate with the Rams was basically sealed, after he tore his left ACL in both the 2013 and 2014 season.
Now Bradford will try to stay on the field and show his new team that his health issues were just a streak of bad luck.
