Report: Allen Robinson Signs With the Chicago Bears

Allen Robinson basically missed the entire 2017 season with an ACL injury. Now, he looks to show that he's still capable of replicating his 2015 campaign when he had 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Allen Robinson is ready for his next chapter. Sources are confirming that he will sign a contract with the Chicago Bears.

Robinson spent almost all of last season on injured reserve after tearing his ACL. He played his first four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars under his rookie contract. Now he looks to bounce back.

Allen Robinson Signs With the Chicago Bears

Robinson’s 2017 season was over as quickly as it began. Just minutes into week one, Robinson caught his first pass of the season, a 17-yard gain. He came up hobbling afterward and then went to the ground. He was ruled out for the game, and shortly after, for the season.

His best season as a pro came in 2015. That year, Robinson had 80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. Though the Jaguars ended up finishing 5-11, it didn’t deter Robinson from putting up ridiculous numbers. He and fellow receiver Allen Hurns were one of the league’s best receiving tandems. With young quarterback Blake Bortles throwing them the football, it gave fans some hope the for the future that they had a solid nucleus. He went on to earn Pro Bowl nods as well.

Then, he had a somewhat of a down year in 2016. Though he only had a few less catches (73), his yardage dipped significantly to 883 as teams game-planned to take away the deep ball. His touchdowns also suffered, going all the way down to just six.

A second-round draft pick out of Penn State in 2014, Robinson took a while to catch on as a rookie. He was slowed by hamstring injuries during OTAs and the preseason. However, Robinson was able to get healthy enough in time for the regular season. He ended up playing in the first ten games and caught 48 passes for 548 yards and two touchdowns.

His season was cut short after Week Ten when he suffered a stress fracture in his right foot.

No one will deny Robinson’s potential to be a star in this league. If he can duplicate his monstrous 2015 season, the contract will end up looking like a steal.
