Week 14 Fantasy Football Starts and Sits
Starts
Alex Smith
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith had a huge bounce back game in week 13 with 37 fantasy points. Smith was the number one quarterback in fantasy football last week. Him and the Chiefs offense seem to finally getting back on track with three of their key playmakers scoring over 20 fantasy points last week. In week 14 they should be able to continue to produce solid fantasy numbers against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are giving up the ninth most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
Jameis Winston
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston came back from his injury and produced 18.5 fantasy points. Winston had been inconsistent in his production over the season but looked good last week. In week 14 he is going up against the Detroit Lions. The Lions have given up 19 plus fantasy points to quarterbacks in back-to-back weeks. Winston should produce solid fantasy numbers in what is usually a make or break week for fantasy owners.
Alfred Morris
Dallas Cowboys running back Alfred Morris is coming off his best game in years last week. He rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown for 18 fantasy points. It was Morris’ first 100 yard game in two seasons. With the offense seeming to finally be turning things around Morris is a solid RB2 this week. Morris is going up against the New York Giants who are giving up the seventh most fantasy points to running backs this season.
Rex Burkhead
New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead has been one of the best running backs in fantasy over the last few weeks. He has averaged over 17 fantasy points per game in the last two games. He has totaled over 400 yards and five touchdowns in the last six games. He is averaging over 14 fantasy points per game. Week 14 is another solid match up for Jones vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are giving up the most fantasy points to wide receiver per games this season.
T.Y. Hilton
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been one of the biggest boom or bust players in fantasy football this season. He has been very matchup dependent. Hilton has four games of 11 or more points and eight games of five or fewer fantasy points. In week 14 he us going up against the the Buffalo Bills who have been a decent match up to wide receivers this season.
Kyle Rudolph
Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph gas been one of the most consistent tight ends in fantasy over the last few weeks. He has scored three touchdowns in the last two games. Rudolph is averaging 11 fantasy points per game over his last three games. Sits
Matt Ryan
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has been one of the biggest busts in fantasy football so far this season. He is currently ranked as the 16th best quarterback in fantasy, only averaging 15 points per game. It is a big step backwards for the reigning NFL MVP and the number one quarterback in fantasy football last season. Ryan has a decent match up in what is usually a high scoring game against divisional rival the New Orleans Saints this Thursday night. While most fantasy owners might not be able to sit Ryan he is a risky play due to his inconsistent production throughout the season.
Blake Bortles
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has had to back-to-back 20 plus fantasy point performances. The Jaguars have been one of the best teams in the NFL so far this season mostly to the credit of their defense. Bortles has been somewhat inconsistent in his production mainly due to them playing with a lead instead of losing like the Jaguars have been for most of his young career. In week 14, however, he has a tough match up against the Seattle Seahawks who have one of the best defenses in the NFL. With the tough match up and it being a make or break week for fantasy owners, Bortles is a risky play in week 14.
Jonathan Stewart
Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart has been a boom or bust flex play for fantasy owners throughout the season. He is currently averaging only six fantasy points per game and has been very touchdown dependent. Stewart has only scored over eight fantasy points in five games this season. In week 14 he is going up against the Minnesota Vikings who have one of the best run defenses in the NFL this season. They are limiting running backs to the fewest fantasy points per game this season.
Carlos Hyde
San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde has been a consistent RB2 for fantasy owners this season. He is currently ranked as the 12th best running back in fantasy averaging 10 fantasy points per game. While he has been a solid play in recent weeks he has not found the end zone since week six. Hyde has a tough match up in week 14 against the Houston Texans who are currently giving up the fourth fewest fantasy points to running backs this season.
Demaryius Thomas
Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has had a tough 2017 season. He is currently the 33rd ranked receiver in fantasy and is averaging only seven fantasy points per game. The Broncos offense has struggled this season due to the terrible play from their quarterbacks. Thomas has a decent match up in week 14 against the New York Jets. This is a make or break week and Thomas has totaled four and a half fantasy points in the last two games combined. That’s not a recipe for fantasy success.
Devin Funchess
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess has been a solid wide receiver to since Kelvin Benjamin was traded to the Buffalo Bills. He has averaged around 13 fantasy points per game since taking over as the number one wide receiver for the Panthers. He is coming off a solid week 13 where he totaled 12 fantasy points. His week 14 match up however is going to be a very difficult one against the Minnesota Vikings with him most likely getting shadow covered by Xavier Rhodes. Rhodes shut down Julio Jones last week and held him to only 27 yards. Funchess is a risky play in week 14.
Vernon Davis
Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis has had back-to-back down games. Over his last two games he has totaled only two fantasy points. In week 14 he is a difficult match up vs the Los Angeles Chargers who are currently giving up the fifth fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season.
