Believe it or not we are already heading into week six of the NFL season. We saw some impressive DFS fantasy performances in week five, especially from the likes of Aaron Jones, Melvin Gordon and the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. The Fantasy Spotlight breaks down the key players for you to target when making your week six GPP lineups on DraftKings.
Fantasy Spotlight: Week Six DraftKings Targets
Quarterback
Drew Brees: New Orleans Saints vs Detroit Lions
Salary: $7,200
The New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees return home after their London trip in week four and their bye in week five. In come the Detroit Lions with an improved defense, but they have allowed 255.8 passing yards per game, good enough for 27th in the league. Brees is almost automatic at home and this week should be no different for the future Hall of Famer.
Carson Palmer: Arizona Cardinals vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Salary: $6,100
If you listen to the “Pickin’ up the Blitz” fantasy football podcast on ITunes, you know that Carson Palmer isn’t exactly a favorite of mine. This week we can put that dislike aside as Palmer and the Cardinals take on a Buccaneers defense that is getting torched to the tune of 309 passing yards allowed per game. Couple that with Palmer averaging 22.5 fantasy points per game at home this season and you have yourself a solid DFS quarterback play for week six.
Other Notables: Kirk Cousins $6,800, Deshaun Watson $6,700 and Josh McCown $5,200
Running Back
Mike Gillislee: New England Patriots at New York Jets
Salary: $5,500
It has now been three weeks without a touchdown for Mike Gillislee. Despite being the unquestioned goal-line back on the Patriots, its been tough sledding for the leader of the #gillygonnaeat movement. The Jets have struggled against the run, allowing 143 rushing yards per game. If Gillislee was ever in line for a bounce back game, it’s against this subpar New York Jets defensive front.
Javorius Allen: Baltimore Ravens vs Chicago Bears
Salary: $5,400
With Terrance West most likely out this week, Javorius Allen becomes the top running back in the Ravens backfield. Facing a defense that got shredded last week against the Minnesota Vikings, Allen should get plenty of chances to make an impact. Alex Collins will also get touches, but with Allen locked in as the primary pass-catching option out of the backfield, he presents the better fantasy value.
Other Notables: Le’Veon Bell $9,600, Andre Ellington $5,300 and Duke Johnson $5,100
Wide Receiver
DeAndre Hopkins: Houston Texans vs Cleveland Browns
Salary: $8,100
There isn’t a whole lot to say here. Even in a game which DeAndre Hopkins only caught four passes against Kansas City, three of them were for touchdowns. It is pretty clear by the amount of targets (61) that Hopkins is the favorite option for rookie Deshaun Watson. Averaging 20.9 fantasy points per game, Hopkins is worth every penny of his $8,100 salary in week six.
Amari Cooper: Oakland Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers
Salary: $5,000
Perhaps no wide receiver has taken more heat this season than Amari Cooper. The young wide-out has struggled with drops all season and has only eight catches over his last four games. This is the type of player that can lead you to a big cashing week in DraftKings. His talent is there, his quarterback returns and his salary is at an all-time low for DFS. Cooper is too good not to turn it around. It’s worth taking a flyer that week six begins that return to form.
Other Notables: Jarvis Landry $6,600, Adam Thielen $6,000 and Martavis Bryant $4,700
Tight End
Austin Seferian-Jenkins: New York Jets vs New England Patriots
Salary: $4,300
Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been a welcome addition to the Jets offense. In three games, he has 15 catches on 18 targets. The Patriots rank 29th against opposing tight ends and rank dead last in passing yards allowed per game. If Josh McCown and the surprising Jets are to have any success against the Patriots on Sunday, Seferian-Jenkins will have to be heavily involved in the offense.
David Njoku: Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans
Salary: $3,000
If you are looking to take a cheap flyer on someone at the tight end position, look no further than David Njoku. The rookie tight end showed off his great hands with an unbelievable one-handed catch for a touchdown last week against the Jets. The Texans have struggled some against tight ends ranking 18th and with the injuries on the Houston defense, Njoku will have a chance to find some open space on Sunday.
Other Notables: Ryan Griffin $4,000, Hunter Henry $4,100 and George Kittle $3,400
Defense
Baltimore Ravens
Salary: $3,700
Last week the Ravens defense was a successful pick in DraftKings and week six should be no different. Baltimore put up 17 fantasy points in week four against rookie DeShone Kizer and this week they face another rookie in Mitch Trubisky.
Atlanta Falcons
Salary: $3,500
The Falcons are coming off their bye and host the Miami Dolphins in week six. Jay Ajayi has struggled for the better part of three weeks and Jay Cutler has been unable to get anything going offensively. This is a prime spot for the Falcons defense to rack up those defense/special teams DraftKings points.
Other Notables: Green Bay Packers $2,800, Arizona Cardinals $2,800 and Pittsburgh Steelers $2,600
