The Los Angeles Rams have one of the least experienced tight end groups in the NFL. And now they will need to add more depth to position following an injury.
Projected back-up tight end Temarrick Hemingway suffered a broken fibula in a preseason game on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Los Angeles Rams Tight End Temarrick Hemingway Suffered Broken Fibula
Hemingway was carted off the field in a 21-19 loss against the to the Los Angeles Chargers. His injury will require surgery. He is expected to miss eight to ten weeks or three to four months, but it depends on the results of the operation.
The second-year pro was vying for a spot on the Rams roster behind tight ends Tyler Higbee and 2017 second-round draft pick Gerald Everett. Between Hemingway, Higbee, and Everett, the trio had combined for 11 receptions in 2016.
Rams head coach Sean McVay, who is known for developing tight ends, was upset with a loss of a young, promising talent.
“He’s one of those players, seen a lot of encouraging things,” McVay told the Los Angeles Times. “He did a lot of really good things on the line of scrimmage, especially in the run game, so that’s a big loss for us.”
The 6-foot-5, 251-pound was a sixth rounder out of South Carolina State and was looked at as a project coming out of college. He is an explosive, big-bodied red zone target, who is thin and lengthly. Hemingway spent most of his rookie campaign on the sidelines for the Rams.
Throughout the 2017 preseason Hemingway only has one catch for 13 yards.
Now veteran tight end Cory Harkey is the favorite to make the roster. Harkey will get a shot to prove himself in the Rams’ final exhibition game this Thursday at Green Bay.
