Running back Eddie Lacy signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the Seahawks. His new contract carries with it $3 million in guarantees. Lacy spent the first four seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers.

Eddie Lacy Signs With
Eddie Lacy’s career got off to a rip-roaring start with the Packers in 2013. The second round running back was immediately thrust into the starting lineup and when Aaron Rodgers went down with injury, he was one of their best offensive players. In the last couple of years though, his production has fallen, his weight has increased and injuries have taken their toll.
Last season, Lacy only played in five games due to an ankle injury and racked up 360 rushing yards and failed to get in the end zone. This went off his 2015 season where he played in 15 games, starting only 12, was affected by injuries and weight issues, and only scored five total touchdowns.
His rookie year he was very effective as their bell cow back. He rushed 284 times for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was just as impressive his next year, rushing 246 times for 1,139 yards and accumulated 13 total touchdowns. Afterwards, he continued to put on excessive weight and injuries forced him to suffer the next two seasons.
When Lacy is healthy and at a good weight, he is a bruiser. He is a big, power back who has no fear of trucking over defenders for yards. He also developed his pass catching ability in his first two seasons, but they dropped with his absences the last two seasons. Certainly a risk, but his potential is extremely high.
Lacy grew up in Louisiana and his family lost their home in Hurricane Katrina. He overcame obstacles, excelled in football at Dutchtown High School and later at Alabama under head coach Nick Saban. Lacy took over duties for Trent Richardson and became one of the best backs in the nation. As a full starter in 2012 in his junior year, he rushed for 1,322 yards and accumulated 19 total touchdowns. He was a key part in the Crimson Tide’s national championship victory over Notre Dame, as Lacy was names the offensive MVP. He was selected by the Packers in the second round with the 61st overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
