Five Reasons The Miami Dolphins Will Be The Same in 2017

Miami Dolphins: After a successful 2016 season, many expect the Dolphins to take a step forward in 2017. Here are five reasons why that might not happen.

For many Miami Dolphins fans, the 2016 season was a year of accomplishment and joy. With good reason, the Miami fan base had something to be hopeful for, but only for a short while. However, starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill being sidelined with an injury forcing back up Matt Moore into the starting spot, really put a damper on a good opportunity for a win in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wild Card Sunday. Although the Dolphins fought hard, they didn’t have enough to match the Pittsburgh Steelers when it mattered. Luck just wouldn’t have it.

There is no reason to question if Adam Gase can coach, because he can. In fact, he’ the best football coach the Dolphins have had in many, many years. The main concerns in Miami start up front and center, starting with the front office. For countless years now, Miami has made some of the most mind boggling decisions within the organization. Here’s five reasons why the Miami Dolphins will be the same in 2017.

Five Reasons The Miami Dolphins Will Be The Same in 2017

The NFL Draft

The front office cannot seem to draft a quality quarterback. Ryan Tannehill is not a quality NFL signal caller. Everybody knows that. Tannehill will be lucky to win one playoff game in his career in Miami. Until the Dolphins start making the most of their draft picks, it will be hard for this team to take the next step.

The Culture

That’s a massive word a lot of people seem to believe just sticks with college athletics, and that is far from the truth as well. The overall belief in Miami is still under construction. Fans just now had a reason to believe that some things can change for the better, and not always the worse. Something as little as a positive attitude can do wonders for the Miami Dolphins organization.

New England

For Miami to ever have a legitimate shot at becoming who they used to be in the NFL, they need Tom Brady and Bill Belichick to retire. The AFC East is locked, and will be locked until Brady and Belichick are done with the game. That’s all that needs to be said there.

First Five Games

Again, for countless years now, Miami starts way too slow and gets comfortable mid-season. ZERO consistency. That correlates to the culture argument, but more so for the inconsistency factor. Up and down teams usually don’t pan out well in the National Football League. Miami made tremendous strides in 2016, absolutely. If you’re making strides, that is without a doubt a great sign. In order for Miami to be better in 2017, they have to go 3-2 in their first five football games.

Time

Confused? You shouldn’t be. Time, the most precious thing in life, is why Miami will not be any different in 2017. You don’t change culture, belief, talent, or management in just one year. It’s a process that has lead Miami to where they are now. No consistency in the front office. The fact is, the Miami Dolphins don’t really crave a Super Bowl like their passionate fan base does.
