The San Diego Chargers have announced that they will be moving to Los Angeles. They have played in San Diego for the past 55 seasons. The team is expected to make an official announcement Thursday morning.

San Diego Chargers Announce Move to Los Angeles
The Chargers first season was played in Los Angeles back in 1960. They moved to San Diego in 1961 and had been there since. They won the AFL championship in 1963. That’s still the only championship in Chargers franchise history.
League sources are annoyed that Chargers chairman Dean Spanos has yet to send a relocation letter to the NFL. The team has notified NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that they will be moving, however.
Adam Schefter stated that Spanos has been trying to find a home for the Chargers in San Diego for the last 16 years, but there was no success in finding anything.
The Chargers last season in San Diego is one to forget. They finished the season with a 4-12 record and were last in the AFC West. It’s a disappointment more because they blew so many games during the beginning of the season.
They had chances to win many of their games, but couldn’t get it done. After their season came to an end, the Chargers fired head coach Mike McCoy. Therefore, the Chargers will have two new things in 2017 – a new home and a new coach.
Nothing else is official at this time. Spanos is expected to make a push for the Los Angeles market as soon as he can.
The Chargers will be the second team in less than a year to announce their move to Los Angeles. The Rams moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles last off-season. They had played in Los Angeles up until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis. The Rams now play at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
