One of the most crucial parts of playing fantasy football is playing the match-ups. Now some players are match-up proof you are not going to sit Aaron Rodgers or Antonio Brown. Below are some Week 13 fantasy football starts and sits to help you win this week.
Week 13 Fantasy Football Starts and Sits
Starts
Matthew Stafford
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has been a decent QB1 this season and is averaging 17 fantasy points per game. In Week 13 he is going up against the New Orleans Saints who have been a solid match-up for quarterbacks this season. In a game that should be a shootout, expect Stafford to produce solid fantasy numbers.
Philip Rivers
San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has been one of the most consistent fantasy signal callers so far this season. With the Chargers losing a few of their key pass-catchers in receiver Keenan Allen and running back Danny Woodhead, it has been the next man up in San Diego. Rivers is averaging 16 fantasy points per game. In Week 13 he is going up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have been a decent match up for quarterbacks so far this season.
Doug Martin
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin has been a solid RB2 since returning from his injury. Martin has seen the bulk of the carries for the Buccaneers and is averaging eight fantasy points per game since coming back. He faces the San Diego Chargers in Week 13, who are giving up the seventh most fantasy points to running backs this season.
Mark Ingram
New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is coming off one of his best games this season in Week 12 where he totaled 28 fantasy points. Ingram’s stat line in Week 12 was somewhat of a surprise to many with Ingram being questionable going into the game with a concussion. Ingram seems to be playing better now that he is splitting touches with fellow running back Tim Hightower. He has a solid match up in Week 13 vs. the Detroit Lions.
Tyrell Williams
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Tyrell Williams has been one of the best waiver wire adds this season. When fellow wide receiver Keenan Allen was lost for the season, Williams stepped up and became one of his quarterback’s favorite targets. Williams is averaging 10 fantasy points per game so far this season. In a game that should be a shootout vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Williams should continue to produce solid fantasy numbers in week 13.
Davante Adams
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams has been one of the best wide receivers over the past five weeks. In his last five games he is averaging over 12 fantasy points per game. With defenses focusing on slowing down Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, Adams has been able to exploit the defense and produce solid fantasy numbers. Adams has a decent match-up in Week 13 vs. the Houston Texans, who gave up over 30 total fantasy points to San Diego wide receivers last week.
Kyle Rudolph
Minnesota Vikings tight and Kyle Rudolph has been a solid tight end for fantasy owners this season. He is currently averaging seven fantasy points per game. In Week 13 he is going up against the Dallas Cowboys, who are giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season.
Travis Kelce
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been one of the better draft bargains, and one of the best tight ends in fantasy this season. Kelce is averaging eight fantasy points per game on the year. He is also coming off back-to-back 100 yard games and has scored five or more fantasy points in his last five games. He has a solid match-up vs. the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13, who are giving up the fourth most fantasy points to tight ends.
Sits
Cam Newton
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been one of the bigger disappointments so far this season. He is only averaging 16 fantasy points per game, and since his bye week he has only totaled over 20 fantasy points one time. In Week 13 he is going up against the Seattle Seahawks, who have been tough on quarterback so far, and are allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
Blake Bortles
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has shown glimpses over the past few weeks of the quarterback that many fantasy owners won championships with last season. Over his past five games, he has totaled more than 17 fantasy points four out of the five times. In Week 13 however he is going up against a solid Denver Broncos defense, who is giving up the fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
Thomas Rawls
Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls is coming off a disappointing Week 12, where he totaled merely three fantasy points. Rawls is coming off an injury that held him out throughout most of the season, which may be a reason why he has not bounce back to the running back many fantasy owners remember from 2015. He has a difficult match-up vs. the Carolina Panthers in Week 13, who are currently giving up the second-fewest fantasy points to running backs.
Robert Kelley
Washington Redskins running back Robert Kelley is coming off a disappointing Week 12 vs. the Dallas Cowboys, where the Redskins were playing from behind most of the game. In Week 13 Kelley, is going up against a solid Arizona Cardinals defense that has been tough on running backs this season, and are allowing the second fewest-fantasy points to running backs.
Kelvin Benjamin
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin has been a solid flex option for fantasy owners this season as he is averaging nine fantasy points per game. Benjamin saved his Week 12 stat line with a 44-yard touchdown reception late vs. the Oakland Raiders. He has a difficult match up this week vs. the Seattle Seahawks and will most likely be shadowed by cornerback Richard Sherman, who has a history of shutting down larger wide receivers. Benjamin is a risky play this week.
Randall Cobb
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb has totaled over 40 yards receiving only once in the last five games. With the emergence of fellow wide receiver Davante Adams, Cobb has seen a decrease in his targets this season. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers spreading the ball around as much as he is to his other weapons in this offense, Cobb is a risky play in Week 13 vs. the Houston Texans.
Jason Witten
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is coming off a disappointing last three games where he has averaged only four fantasy points per game. With him failing to produce fantasy points and a difficult match up on Thursday night vs. the Minnesota Vikings, who have been solid against tight ends this season, he is a risk you play this week.
Dennis Pitta
Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta has seemed to be the odd man out in Baltimore as he is only averaging three fantasy points per game this season. With Pitta failing to produce fantasy points consistently, he should remain on your bench in Week 13 vs. an improved Miami Dolphins defense who has been solid over the past few contests.
