Houston Texans Drop the Ball in Blowout Loss to Patriots

The Houston Texans got destroyed Thursday in a 27-0 loss to New England, marking the first time since 2003 they were shut out in the regular season.

The Houston Texans looked terrible tonight. There’s no other way to put it. The offense couldn’t get anything going. The defense couldn’t tackle. The New England Patriots rolled over them tonight by the score of 27-0 on their way to 3-0.

Houston Texans Drop the Ball in Blowout Loss to Patriots

The prime-time jitters of the Houston Texans live on. Getting shut out in the regular season for the first time since 2003, the Texans embarrassed themselves once again. Even without Tom Brady, the Patriots steam rolled the Texans on Thursday Night Football.

The Texans pass rush was essentially nonexistent, with the only sack of the night coming in the first quarter. Besides that, rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett faced no pressure. They also had a hard time wrapping up when tackling. On the offensive side of the ball, the Texans had trouble executing. Lamar Miller finished the night with 22 carries and 80 yards, a respectable stat-line. However, stats don’t tell the whole story. The Texans couldn’t get the running game going all night.

The worst problem for the Texans tonight came on special teams. Losing two fumbles on kick returns, the Houston Texans dropped the ball tonight. These two turnovers were crucial in the grand scheme of things. With the Patriots capitalizing, and scoring after each of these turnovers, the Texans dug themselves a hole they couldn’t climb out of.

The Texans return home in week four, facing the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, October 2nd. The game kicks off at noon CT and will be televised on CBS.
