Houston Texans Defense Vital to Victory
Houston Texans vs New England Patriots
Gillette Stadium
Foxborough, Massachusetts
8:25pm EST
All eyes will be on Will Fuller of the Houston Texans tonight. He took the league by storm in his first two games as a pro, and the New England Patriots will provide a great test for him. Fans should also keep an eye out for J.J. Watt. The three time defensive player of the year played in the first two games, but has been on a limited snap count. He will be a major factor in the Texans defensive game plan as they try to put pressure on rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Brissett has his work cut out for him against the formidable Houston Texans defense.
Look for the Houston Texans defense to dial up a lot of blitzes when the Patriots are on offense. Putting pressure on the rookie Brissett, and forcing him to make errant decisions is essential. Furthermore, Rob Gronkowski may make his season debut tonight. If he does, expect him to be heavily leaned on in the passing game. Fellow tight end Martellus Bennett will be involved as well, but he will be in more of a blocking role.
While the Houston Texans defense is one to be reckoned with, they cannot win this game on their own. Brock Osweiler and the offense will need to be on point as well. Look for the Texans to establish the run game with Lamar Miller early on. With their linebacker Dont’a Hightower probably missing another game, the Patriots will be down a play-maker on defense.
Typically, Thursday Night Football games are far from great, but expect a good one tonight. The Houston Texans defense has been on fire, and that won’t be stopping anytime soon. Although they’re starting a rookie at quarterback, this is still the New England Patriots. The Texans will have to stay focused if they hope to leave Foxborough with a win.
