Scuderia Ferrari stick to their signature red, now with a more aggressive matte finish. Black detailing is more pronounced than in 2024, evoking the SF-90 – Ferrari’s 2019 challenger.

Sponsors like Shell and Puma stand out more this season, while an increased presence of white adds a sense of balance to the design.

On the technical side, the chassis is 25mm longer at the front, shifting the weight distribution rearward to improve balance – particularly in slow and high-speed corners, where the SF-24 struggled.

A shorter gearbox creates more space at the rear, aiding aerodynamics. Ferrari also introduced a pull-rod front suspension for both mechanical and aerodynamic gains.

McLaren: The Balance of Orange and Black

McLaren retain their signature papaya livery, but black takes up more space than in 2024, giving the car a more aggressive look. New blue accents nod to the historic Gulf colour scheme, though in a more subtle form.

At its London event, McLaren unveiled a show car – an exhibition model meant to showcase the livery and design without revealing key technical details.

The real MCL39, however, made its track debut at Silverstone, offering a first glimpse of its aerodynamic and mechanical characteristics for the 2025 season.

Technically, the MCL39 features a larger horizontal airbox inlet, redesigned side inlets, and a more aggressive anti-dive suspension.

Red Bull: Continuity with Small Changes

Red Bull stick to their classic blue, red, and yellow livery, but for 2025, the colours appear more saturated.

The Oracle logo is now larger on the sides, while sponsor placements have been slightly adjusted to enhance visibility on television.

Mercedes: The Return of Silver for the F1 2025 Livery

After reintroducing silver in 2024 with a fade into black, Mercedes retain the same approach for 2025. The classic silver remains, blending into dark elements on the sides.

Meanwhile, Petronas blue is more prominent than last season, striking a balance between tradition and modernity.

Aston Martin: Green Remains Sovereign

Aston Martin’s 2025 livery evolves from their 2024 design.

The signature green is now slightly brighter, while reduced lime yellow detailing gives the car a more refined look.

Alpine continue with their signature combination of blue and pink, maintaining its partnership with BWT.

However, for 2025, the design has been refined, with fewer graphic elements. This results in a cleaner and more polished visual impact.

Now competing as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber, the former Alfa Romeo squad have introduced a striking new livery, crafted by the Alfa Romeo Style Centre.

With Nico Hülkenberg and rookie Gabriel Bortoleto at the helm, the team embark on a new era, aiming to establish themselves as formidable competitors on the grid.

Technical Impact of F1 2025 Liveries

The 2025 season sees a continued trend of teams minimizing paint usage to reduce weight, leading to more exposed carbon fibre sections. This approach optimizes the weight-to-performance ratio while maintaining striking visual identities.

Certain colour choices and finishes also play a role in heat dissipation. For example, Mercedes’ return to silver could offer better thermal management compared to the matte black dominant in previous seasons.

Most teams have opted for matte paints. This not only reduces weight but also enhances aerodynamic efficiency by improving airflow over the car’s surface.

Red Bull and Ferrari, among others, strategically use thinner layers of paint in key areas to prevent any aerodynamic compromise.

Meanwhile, the extensive presence of exposed black carbon fibre on cars like McLaren and Mercedes is not just an aesthetic decision. It’s primarily a weight-saving measure, ensuring every possible gram is shaved off for performance gains.
