Justin Allgaier Scores Big in Nashville Xfinity Series Race

Saturday night under the lights at Nashville Superspeedway was meant for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The Tennessee Lottery 250 had plenty of intrigue with the freshly crowned Coca-Cola 600 winner Ross Chastain in the field. But the Xfinity Series regulars were not going to let a Cup star rain on their parade. JR Motorsports once again proved they have some of the best drivers in the field. Not to mention, Chevrolet continues to flex its muscles in the Xfinity Series. Defending Series champion Justin Allgaier was here for a second guitar.

Justin Allgaier Scores Big in Nashville Xfinity Series Race

Rookie William Sawalich for Joe Gibbs Racing scored his second-career pole, and he had the veteran Austin Hill alongside for the start of the race. The way they all fired off, you just knew it was going to be an exciting night at Nashville Superspeedway.

Sawalich was able to lead the first 37 laps when the first incident on track occurred. The No. 28 of Kyle Sieg got into the rear of Parker Retzlaff, which sent the No. 4 around. Unfortunately, ending Retzlaff’s day early.

Here Comes JRM

After the clean-up and restart, Justin Allgaier pounced at the front, taking the lead from Sawalich and not looking back. Allgaier would lead the next 52 laps of the race through both of the stages. He continued to stack up stage wins and playoff points. This race was quickly turning into a JRM show, and everyone else was going to have to watch.

Justin’s teammate, Connor Zilisch, was making moves towards the front during the race as well. He certainly was going to prove to be a contender. As was Sheldon Creed, who is still in search of that elusive first Xfinity Series win. Creed led 25 laps during the race, but ended the night in fourth.

Bad Night For Rookies

Much like some of the toughest tracks on the schedule, Nashville proved to be a rough place for some of the Xfinity Series’ rookies. Just look at the polesitter for starters. Sawalich’s night went up in smoke on lap 163. He wasn’t the only prominent rookie who ended the night in the garage. Christian Eckes ended up with a smashed frontend of his car during a stack up on a restart, which saw at least 10 cars turned around on the frontstretch.

Three-Horse Race

Much like Friday’s Truck race, the Xfinity Series race came down to three drivers. Creed, Zilisch and Justin Allgaier. Like most cases, the elder statesman was the one who got the checkered flag at the end of the night. Allgaier made a big three-wide move under Brandon Jones to secure the lead for good on a restart with around 48 laps to go.

Once Justin got the lead, it was all over. The 38-year-old cruised to his 28th career Xfinity win, and second at Nashville Superspeedway. He just had to get a second guitar so that each of his daughters had one.

Chevrolet Dominance

It was just another picture-perfect night for Chevrolet. The manufacturer is on one heck of a run. The Xfinity Series has run 14 races this season, and a Chevy has won 12 of those races. It’s a mark that has never been seen before. Not to mention Justin Allgaier is on fire. The win was his third of the season, and he’s put himself in the conversation to be the driver to beat for the Championship.

The Xfinity Series continues to put on a great show each and every week. They are off for a week, and then they head down below the border for the race in Mexico City. That Chevy dominance could very well continue.
