IndyCar 101: The 2025 IndyCar Grid

With only a few days left until the first race of the season, it’s the ideal time to meet the drivers on the 2025 IndyCar grid. In the final part of the IndyCar 101 series, you will get to know the drivers, ages, number of full-time seasons, and a little bit about their careers.

Team Penske

Will Power

Age: 43     Season: 18th 

Power is a two-time INDYCAR champion (2014, 2022) and the 2018 Indy 500 winner. He holds the record for most pole positions with 70 and has 44 race wins, ranking fourth all-time.

Scott McLaughlin

Age: 31     Season: 5th

McLaughlin was named the IndyCar and Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year. Since then, he has racked up 7 race victories and 19 podiums. Last year he finished 3rd in the drivers’ championship.

Josef Newgarden

Age: 34    Season: 14th

Newgarden is a two-time IndyCar champion (2017, 2019) and a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner (2023, 2024). With 31 career wins, he’s the winningest active American driver and tied for 10th on the all-time list.

Arrow McLaren

Pato O’Ward

Age: 25     Season: 6th

O’Ward returns to Arrow McLaren for his sixth INDYCAR season. He has earned 7 wins and 26 podiums with three coming last season including at Mid-Ohio becoming the first driver to win a race in IndyCar’s hybrid era.

Nolan Siegel

Age: 20 Season: 1st full season

After making 12 starts, 10 with Arrow McLaren, as a rookie in 2024, Siegel enters his first full season. He has proven successful in other series, winning a few races in INDY NXT and the 2024 LMP2 Class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Christian Lungaard

Age: 23     Season: 4th

Lundgaard enters his fourth full season in the series but his first with Arrow McLaren. His first win came at the 2023 Honda Indy Toronto.

Chip Ganassi Racing

Alex Palou

Age: 27     Season: 6th

Palou enters 2025 racing in his sixth season with three IndyCar championships under his belt, winning in 2021, 2023, and 2024. Throughout his seasons, he has racked up 12 wins and 32 podiums.

Scott Dixon

Age: 44     Season: 23rd

Dixon continues his long career by being on the 2025 IndyCar grid. This year marks his 24th season with Chip Ganassi Racing, beginning in 2002 while the series was still known as CART. He is a six-time IndyCar champion and the 2008 Indianapolis 500 winner. He holds the most wins of any active driver with 58, which puts him second all-time. 

Kyffin Simpson

Age: 20     Season: 2nd

Simpson enters his sophomore season driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. In his first season, he finished in the top 15 five times. He won the LMP2 championship in the European Le Mans Series and secured LMP2 class victories at IMSA and the Asian Le Mans Series.

Andretti Global

Colton Herta

Age: 24     Season: 7th

Herta enters his 7th season in IndyCar. He became the youngest driver to win a race at the 2019 Circuit of The Americas and the youngest to earn pole position. Since then, he has earned 8 wins. Last year, he finished second in the drivers’ championship.

Kyle Kirkwood

Age: 26     Season: 4th

Kirkwood returns to Andretti Global for his fourth season. He’s won three titles across multiple series. His first win came in 2023 at Long Beach.

Marcus Ericsson

Age: 34     Season: 7th

Ericsson returns to Andretti Global for his seventh season. The 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner is a former Formula One driver, racing for Sauber from 2015-18.

AJ Foyt Racing

David Malukas

Age: 23     Season: 4th

David Malukas joins AJ Foyt Racing for his fourth season. He spent time in INDY NXT and finished second in 2021, with a series-record 16 podium finishes. After missing the first eight races due to an injury, Malukas raced the rest of the season, he finished in the top 10 twice.

Santino Ferrucci

Age: 26     Season: 8th

Ferrucci is in his fifth full-time season and eighth overall in IndyCar. He returns for his third season with AJ Foyt Racing as the driver of the No. 14 car. Last year he earned his first pole position in Portland and finished in the top five twice.

Meyer Shank Racing

Marcus Armstrong

Age: 24     Season: 3rd

Armstrong joins Meyer Shank Racing in 2025 after two seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing. He picked up his first IndyCar podium with a third-place finish at Detroit.

Felix Rosenqvist 

Age: 33     Season: 7th

Rosenqvist won the 2019 Rookie of the Year, and his first win came at Road America. Last year he finished in the top 10 eight times, including a podium at Thermal.

Ed Carpenter Racing

Christian Rasmussen

Age: 24     Season: 2nd

Rasmussen returns for his first full season in IndyCar with Ed Carpenter Racing after a rookie season in 2024. He won the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone championship.

Alexander Rossi

Age: 33     Season: 10th

Rossi joins Ed Carpenter Racing after spending two seasons with Arrow McLaren.  His eight race victories include a standout win at the 100th Indianapolis 500 in 2016, where he won as a rookie.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing

Graham Rahal

Age: 36     Season: 17th

Rahal is a six-time IndyCar race winner. He made history as the second-youngest driver to win a race and pole position. He debuted in 2007 at age 18 and drives for a team co-owned by his father.

Devlin DeFrancesco

Age: 23     Season: 3rd

After spending the 2024 season in the IMSA SportsCar Series, DeFrancesco returns to IndyCar with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. His first two seasons were spent with Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport where his highest finishing position was 12th at Gateway.

Louis Foster

Age: 21     Season: 1st

Coming off of his 2024 INDY NXT Championship victory, Foster is to make his debut on the 2025 IndyCar grid racing with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing racing full-time.

Juncos Hollinger Racing 

Sting Ray Robb

Age: 23     Season: 3rd

Sting Ray Robb is moving to Juncos Hollinger Racing, the same team he won the USF Pro 2000 championship in 2020. He also finished runner-up in INDY NXT by Firestone in 2022.

Conor Daly

Age: 23     Season: 6th full season

Daly returns to JHR for his first full-time season with the team after delivering their first podium in 2024. His IndyCar career started in 2017, and since then he’s been splitting time between series.

Dale Coyne Racing

Rinus Veekay

Age: 23     Season: 4th

VeeKay moves to Dale Coyne Racing following five years at Ed Carpenter Racing. In those five years, he earned one win and four podiums. Last year VeeKay placed 13th in the championship with a best-race finish of 5th

Jacob Abel

Age: 23     Season: 1st

Abel is another rookie on the 2025 IndyCar grid. In 2024, Abel earned three wins and three poles to finish as the runner-up in the INDY NXT Championship. This earned him a seat with Dale Coyne.

PREMA

Callum Ilott

Age: 26     Season: 4th

After spending most of 2024 in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Ilott returns full-time with the newest IndyCar team, PREMA Racing. He raced with PREMA in the 2017 Formula 3 Championship.

Robert Schwartzman

Age: 25    Season: 1st

Shwartzman makes his rookie debut on the 2025 IndyCar grid. Shwartzman raced for PREMA from 2018-2021 in other championships like F3 and F2. He has also served as a test and reserve driver for Ferrari and Sauber from 2022-24.
