Nebraska Hadley

What Does Corey Hadley’s Commitment Mean for Nebraska?

Nebraska added four-star safety Corey Hadley to its 2027 recruiting class. His pledge marks the eighth commitment of the cycle for the Huskers, and the Cornhuskers’ third four-star prospect. What does the Georgia native bring to Lincoln?

Additional Star Power

With Hadley’s commitment, Nebraska gained additional star power in its recruiting class. Current Millard South quarterback Trae Taylor is the crown jewel of the Cornhuskers recruiting haul. Omaha Central safety Tory Pittman is also an impressive prospect in his own right. The 6′-0″, 189-pound safety is one of the top prospects in the state of Nebraska and the ninth-best safety in the entire class. Hadley perfectly fits in with those two additions. As a junior at Sandy Creek in Georgia, the 180-pound safety had 65 tackles, five pass breakups, and two interceptions last season.

Familiarity With NU

Over the course of his recruitment process, Hadley visited Nebraska on several occasions. However, the Cornhuskers made their biggest impression on him last summer when he visited Lincoln last June as part of the Hudl Futures Forum. But he was truly blown away on his unofficial visit to the Michigan game. According to Rivals Chad Simmons, Hadley was excited about the fact that he can be “focused and play football.” On the other hand, another big selling point for Hadley was his position coach in Addison Williams. One of the first camps that he went to was led by Williams when he was the defensive backs coach at UCF. According to Rivals, this allowed both of them to maintain “such a good connection when he eventually went to Nebraska.”

The Future of the Defense

The Blackshirts will experience a youth movement on their defense in 2026. Safety Deshon Singleton signed a free agent deal with the Chiefs at the end of the NFL Draft, and ex-Husker cornerback Ceyair Wright will join Zac Taylor in Cincinnati.  This positions Dwayne McDougle and Andrew Marshall to become the veterans in the secondary this year.  However, we should also expect some of the program’s new faces to make an impact. The Huskers just added former five-star cornerback Danny Odem to the roster and brought in Victor Evans II from FIU. Because of the program’s depth, Hadley has a slim chance to see the field as an underclassman. However, stranger things have happened. After Malcolm Hartzog’s injury last season, Rex Guthrie was thrust into the limelight.

A Recruiting Boost?

Despite their lack of on-field success, Nebraska is able to win marquee recruiting battles with Rhule at the helm. In order to gain Hadley’s commitment, the Cornhuskers had to beat out several blue-blood programs. However, the only schools that were truly a factor in his recruitment were Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. According to On3, visits to both Starkville and Atlanta were supposed to happen this May. However, Nebraska’s consistent focus allowed the Cornhuskers to become the leader in his recruitment. The program should be able to continue its recruiting momentum over the coming months. But it the reinforcements won’t come from the secondary.  Nebraska offensive line coach Geep Wade is currently trying to woo offensive lineman Jordan Agbanoma away from Texas A&M. Kyler Kuhn is also becoming another name to watch. The Missouri native took a visit to Lincoln on March 10th and has since been trending the program’s way.
