Three Keys For Arkansas

Hogs Headed to Atlanta for SEC Media Days Event

As “Talking Season” across college football continues, we now move our sights to Atlanta, Georgia, and the SEC Media Days extravaganza. We use this term loosely, as in reality, all “Media Days” are over the top for optics.  This year’s event takes place at the College Football Hall of Fame from Monday, July 14, through Thursday, the 17th. This is the third time this event has been held in Atlanta in its storied history.

With this, we know who will represent the Arkansas Razorbacks in addition to Sam Pittman when he takes the podium on Thursday. The 2025 event will be the fifth appearance for Pittman in this yearly event.

DL – Cameron Ball

We start with perhaps the most talented player on the Arkansas defense, Cameron Ball. The redshirt senior heads to Atlanta after a stellar 2024 season for Arkansas. Ball notched a career-high 47 tackles, with four of which were for loss, and one and a half sacks in his 13 starts for Arkansas.

As we have previewed, the defensive line will be key in both in and out-of-conference contests for Arkansas this season. With one of the most experienced players joining, Pittman Ball will provide stability in a high-stress situation. This will be the first trip to the SEC Media Days for Ball.

LB – Xavian Sorey Jr

Next, we stay on the defensive side of the ball with linebacker Xavian Sorey Jr. In 2024, his first in Fayetteville, Sorey was one of the best in the conference as he led Arkansas with 99 tackles, including 40 solo. Additionally, Ball brought the heat to opposing quarterbacks as he added two sacks, three hurries,  an interception, and a pass breakup to his statistical lines.  In addition to this, he tallied the tie for most tackles for loss, with 9.5 on the season.

The linebacker position room is deep for Arkansas and is led by Sorey. Will this unit contribute to a more effective season defensively? Although Arkansas hopes its star linebacker can use his 13 starts in 2024 to catapult to another successful season. This is the first visit to the SEC Media Days for Sorey Jr.

QB – Taylen Green

Taylen Green will be returning to this event for Arkansas, as he was alongside Pittman last season. Furthermore, this will be something to watch as Green fields questions from the media in attendance. After a superb 2024 season, which included 3,154 yards passing along with 602 on the ground, Green will look to make Arkansas a name in the SEC in 2025.

The above-mentioned stat netted Green the 2nd most yards in a single season behind another Petrino quarterback, former Razorback Ryan Mallet. Can Green return the Razorbacks to the success of the olden days of Petrino? This is quite the task, and some fans demand this for Green and this version of Arkansas. But the successes of 2024 prove the wins are capable despite the gauntlet of games on the slate this season.

How To Watch?

The event can be watched/streamed on the SEC Network throughout the week. This will include individual interviews with coaches, players, and administration from across the conference. There are four teams per day over the four days.
