ACC Players of the Week

ACC Players of the Week

As we have hit the end of the 2024 regular season, we get one more look at ACC Players of the Week, as conference media members also turn in their ballots for the year-end recognition.

Quarterback of the Week

Haynes King of Georgia Tech played in his first full game in more than a month, (shoulder injury), and held up the Yellowjackets in an epic battle with Georgia. King had 413 yards of total offense to go with five touchdowns in the 44-42 eight overtime loss. King was 26 of 36 passing for 303 yards. He ran for another 110 yards.

Running Back of the Week

Isaac Brown of Louisville is a repeat winner of this award. He carried the ball 26 times against Kentucky for a season-high 178 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinals beat their archrival 41-14 last weekend. The 178 rushing yards are the most ever by a Louisville true freshman. It was Brown’s fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season.

Receiver of the Week

Jackson Meeks of Syracuse played a huge role in the Orange win over Miami, knocking the Hurricanes out of the ACC conference race. Meeks had seven catches for 110 yards. Two of the receptions were touchdowns and the other five were all for first downs.

Offensive Lineman of the Week

Back to Syracuse for this one. Tackle Savion Washington helped anchor an offensive line that got the Orange to 42 points and 479 yards of total offense in the come-from-behind win over Miami. Washington had a 93% pass protection grade on the game.

Defensive Lineman of the Week

Donovan Ezeiruaku of Boston College has made it here a few times. The defensive end had a big weekend in the win over Pitt. He had four-and-a-half tackles for loss with three-and-a-half of them being sacks. The sack total is the second most for a single game in program history. His 16.5 sacks on the season ties the all-time program record for a single-season.

Linebacker of the Week

Cameron Bergeron of Duke had a complete stat line in the win at Wake Forest. He had nine tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. He helped the Duke defense limit Wake Forest to just 17 points.

Defensive Back of the Week

Going back to Syracuse. Devin Grant had the play that was the turning point for the Orange in their 21-point comeback win. He jarred the ball loose from Miami receiver Xavier Restrepo, recovered the fumble, and returned it 56 yards for the touchdown. It gave Syracuse the lead for the first time in the game. Grant also had seven tackles in the game.

Specialist of the Week

Virginia Tech placekicker John Love was three for three on field goals and four for four in PATs as the Hokies beat Virginia. Love’s field goals were from 44, 31, and 28 yards out. He finished the regular season 15 for 17.

Rookie of the Week

Virginia Tech quarterback William Watson made his first career start and came up with the win over Virginia. The Hokies had 302 yards of total offense with Watson going 14 of 21 passing for 254 yards and a touchdown.
