Oregon 2025 Recruiting Class Gets Stronger With Top OL Flip

The Oregon 2025 recruiting class is among the best in the nation. With the flip of Douglas Utu from Tennessee, Oregon just gets better.

The Oregon 2025 recruiting class is strong and has only just gotten better. Interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu flipped his commitment from Tennessee to the Ducks. He is considered a four-star inside offensive lineman by 247Sports. By their rankings, Utu is the fourth-best at his position and 101st in the nation.

He was committed to Tennessee on June 24. Utu represents the 16th commitment to the Oregon 2025 recruiting class and the third on the offensive line.

Oregon 2025 Recruiting Class Adds Four-Star Douglas Utu

Utu is a superstar on the offensive line for one of the nation’s premier high school football programs. 2024 marks the fourth year that Utu started at Bishop Gorman High School. He has a commanding six-foot-six, 300-pound frame that will translate well to the college game. While 247Sports’s system has him listed as an interior defensive line, he has played tackle at the high school level and is listed as a tackle on the Oregon page. 247Sports’ scouts believe that he has the prototypical right tackle profile but he can kick inside and succeed.

As a recruit, Utu is incredibly polished already. He has great technique to go with plus feet and balance. At his size, he moves well laterally. Between the run game and the passing game, he is equally strong. He will fit right in with the Oregon offensive line room with his aggressiveness and nastiness to his game. At the point of attack, Utu shows strength and can finish his blocks with ease. He has a strong first punch and has a great bend.

Oregon will use him in several ways. He is adept at holding up against bull rushers and can compete with speed rushers around the edge. Already, Utu has great size, had his pick of the litter, and turned down a plethora of Power 4 offers. He certainly projects to be a high-end NFL Draft pick once his playing time is done.
