We’re through three full weeks in the college football season and the Heisman race is starting to take major shape. However, there’s still some volatility with teams that are not perennial powers coming to the forefront. Who had Kansas being 3-0 and Jalon Daniels making our Heisman list on their bingo card? We’ll dive into that and more as we break down the contenders in our 2022 Week Three Heisman rankings.
The leaders are starting to rise to the forefront as nobody outside of our top five gained more than three votes. But, was Ohio State’s outpouring of offense enough to give us a new leader at the top? Can the running backs hold off the strong quarterback push? With that, let’s take a look as we unveil our 2022 Week Three Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates
1. CJ Stroud
QB | Ohio State Next Game: 9/24 vs Wisconsin
On the heels of a 77-point outburst, Stroud has vaulted up to the top spot on our list. He was nearly flawless in throwing for 367 yards while adding five touchdowns through the air. The Buckeyes will now face their toughest test to date when they host Wisconsin on Saturday night and Stroud has the opportunity to cement his status.

2. Bryce Young
QB | Alabama Next Game: 9/24 vs Vanderbilt
Much as Alabama has done at the top, Young has relinquished his top spot in this week’s Heisman poll. The supporting cast remains to be a big concern in Tuscaloosa. That might especially be true as the competition gets stronger. Now, they did score 63 points against ULM, but Young through a pair of interceptions in the rout.

3. Caleb Williams
QB | USC Next Game: 9/24 at Oregon State
The USC offense continues to roll under Lincoln Riley with the help of his sophomore signal caller. The Trojans have eclipsed 40 points in all three contests this season with Williams completing nearly 75% of his throws and is yet to throw an interception. It gets a little tricky as Williams travels to Oregon State on Saturday which should be their stiffest test to date.

4. Will Anderson
DL | Alabama Next Game: 9/24 vs Vanderbilt
After a slow start, Anderson has really picked it up over the last five quarters of play. His pick-six against ULM last Saturday is the type of play that he’ll need to make on a consistent basis to get him moving up on this Heisman list. Additionally, he picked up his second sack of the season and now has 4.5 tackles for loss. Look for more disruption as the Tide host Vanderbilt this week.

5. Stetson Bennett
QB | Georgia Next Game: 9/24 vs Kent State
The Bulldogs continue to throw their weight around as the unquestioned best team in the country. And, Bennett is at the head of that in not only being a game manager but making tons of great throws. Even though he only has five touchdown passes, he’s averaging over 300 yards through the air per game this season. He should have no problem again this week as the Bulldogs host Kent State.
