With the trading of Davantae Adams, the Green Bay Packers were in need of a wide receiver. In the first round, the Packers decided to take both Georgia Bulldogs Quay Walker and DeVonte Wyatt. The question was when were the Packers going to replace Adams’s position. Well, it seems as if they have found a new target for Aaron Rodgers. In order to do this, they had to trade with division rival Minnesota Vikings. This time, the Green Bay Packers decided to select Christian Watson.
Green Bay Packers select North Dakota State’s Christian Watson
With the 34th pick, of the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select…Christian Watson, a wide receiver from North Dakota State. There it is, finally a wide receiver for Aaron Rodgers and he gets a good one. Watson may be from the FCS, and he may not be a Chris Olave or Garrett Wilson, but he still brings fire power to the offense. Weighing at 208 pounds, Woods gave scouts a great show. His 40-time finished at 4.36, a 38.5 inch vertical, and 18 reps with 225 pounds on the bench press.
Career at North Dakota State
At North Dakota State, Watson finished his career with 105 catches for 2,104 yards and 14 touchdowns. Watson with the Bisons won three National Championships, first-team honors at kick returner in 2020, returning two kick returns for a touchdown, and was named second-team FCS All American at receiver. At first, his draft stock seemed to have gone down a bit, but after an impressive senior bowl, he has now landed with an organization looking to win their first Super Bowl since the 2010-2011 season and play aside one of the best quarterbacks in Rodgers.

The loss of Adams does still hurt Green Bay. But Watson will look to play a big impact on the offensive and possibly special teams’ side if needed. His other teammates on the receiving core are Randall Cobb, Sammy Watkins, and Allen Lazard. Watson may not become the next Adams, but has the potential and work ethic to be the next star in the NFL. Will it happen? Only time will tell.
